Good speaker for small to medium gatherings
Overall , good product. Not super loud but loud enough to enjoy in a calm bbq setting or when ever lounging around & not trying to disturb a lot of people. The Bass on a scale from 1-10 is a solid 5. Doesn’t have a crazy amount of bass, on most songs that sub you can really barley notice it with this unit. Again good product for small to medium settings. Definitely not a unit I would want to use for a big get together. Sound quality is clear & crisp . A lot of options for how you want to connect music to it ( NO USB ). Now a days everything is Bluetooth anyways ( get with the times ). I purchased a universal stand for it & looks pretty cool. Great buy for the price & the specs.

    I was lucky enough to catch this on significant sale. I'd been eyeballing buying one for a long time, and the sale price made it an offer I couldn't refuse. I've used it for several weeks now for garage gatherings. Here's what I've learned...

    It's adequate out of the box. The sound is alright. The Mega Bass button adds a bit of bass in, but it's not incredible. At the price I picked it up for, it was well worth it...

    But wait!! There's more!!! If you download the Sony Music Center app from the App/Play Store, you can get in and start messing with the equalizer. There's where you can really dial in the sound you want, with several presets, and a fully customizable EQ. If anyone is complaining about the sound, they can easily fix it with the app. Once you set it, you can forget it. It holds your EQ settings it seems forever.

    So far, I cruise around 20 for volume. That's pretty comfortable for background noise in a room full of people. You'll blow them out by maxing volume at 50. I took it to the max to see what she could do, and she didn't seem to break up at all when she hit the ceiling. It seems to switch EQ settings when opening and closing the box. I've found in most scenarios that leaving it open has the most full sound. Maybe closing it up would be better if it were mounted on a pole? Also, it seems pretty omni-directional. Sounds pretty good if you're in front, or behind it.

    Overall, you're looking at a solid party box. True, it's a little awkward to carry, but I don't plan on standing there holding it all the time. It's got good enough grips to get it from the trunk to the gathering spot. Not the biggest, not the smallest, but great for an all around solution.

    UPDATE April 2020: I've found this to be the perfect outside chore music box at camp. It also appears (as advertised) that the unit is water resistant to a fair degree. I left it outside overnight and didn't realize it had rained. Wiped it off, no harm, no foul. Super happy I got this.

    I have been a semi-pro musician and also a semi-pro sound guy. I am often the guy that provides sound snd lighting for small to medium sized events. This BT speaker absolutely rocks for what it is. I got mine for $149 reduced from $249, I would spend $249 on this because for another $100 I could get something even better.

    One thing I like about it, is that it had a mounting hole on the bottom so the unit can be used with a collapsible speaker stand. I outfitted a small part this last weekend (everyone wore masks). The speaker performed amazingly well. I probably could have never plugged it into an outlet snd just let it run off the battery. I got a lot of compliments on the sound of this thing!

    I like that it had a USB on thus thing. I used it to bower a small laser light that will pulse to the heat of the music.

    The App for it gets a bad rap from a lot of reviewers , but one truly great feature of the app is that it has a 5-band EQ on it, which for someone with my background in sound, I found very useful. However, when adjusting the EQ while a song us playing the sound momentarily cuts out every time I adjust the EQ, making it difficult to hear the change in settings. But I’m still impressed that the app can do that. I wish all BT speakers had a way to adjust the EG.

    Bass Response: the bass is “punchy” but not “throbby”. (A good subwoofer will be throbby, meaning you can feel the bass) But this thing will pretty much out do anything in its price range.

    External mic jack. You can hook up an external microphone and there is an independent volume control for the mic. There is also a reverb button. I’ve not checked this out, but I’m sure I’ll use it. I play electric guitar and one of the things I will use the mic jack for is to connect my guitar to this unit to jam along with backing tracks that BT from my phone.

    This is a nice addition to my speaker collection. It's a little much at the pool, like over prepared, but it can charge your cell phone! I also like it because I can take it to other outside parities or beach. App is dumb, don't bother. The blue tooth auto connects which I actually like. The 6.36 makes a good volume guitar practice speaker, not sure if it's loud enough for gig. The L/R audio jack seems a little pointless. Think it would have been nicer to have a 3.5 and a 6.35. The bass is punchy but not low. It has a 7 Inch driver.
