Space-conscious replacement for the Apple 18w that delivers on looks and POWER.
5 out of 5 stars
Space-conscious replacement for the Apple 18w that delivers on looks and POWER.
Looking at it you’d have no idea where they get the 18w of true PD Charging from, but it delivers. Darn it though, I was taking a break from chargers for a bit (take a look at my reviews to see what I mean, or give me a follow) but I saw this drop and had to get one. It looks almost exactly like the iconic Apple 5w unit included in the box with every iphone for the last 8 years...EXCEPT THIS ONE KICKS BUTT.I have been using this unit for a week or so as of this review, and using this charger to recharge my XS max, iPhone XR, and iPad Pro 2018 with no issue. I have tried Anker, Aukey, Choetech, and Apple cables on it and they all work fine. I ran it on my MacBook Pro 13 for a couple days (float charge, just keeping it at 100%) and it was warm and upset - but performed flawlessly not tripping on thermal or going beyond 20w.Now if you have read my reviews in the past you know I panned Anker for their PowerPort Atom 30w PD unit for being reasonably sized and not having folding prongs. On the PowerPort III Nano, I am ok with it. It is still small enough to disappear into your pocket that the prongs don’t bother me.The finish currently available is a white matte square-tube design with a silver ANKER logo on the side, and slightly bubbled gloss white face with IQ3 on it. Although a little larger than the Apple unit, if I handed it to you in the dark you couldn’t tell the difference. There are no LED’s that I could see whatsoever, and the 120vac prongs stuck in every outlet I tested without issue.Overall, this is not an all-in-one USB-C charger that I would recommend for your laptop, Nintendo Switch, etc. I would however recommend it for:- Anyone looking for a compact/power-dense charger to keep in your pocket or bag, this is it.- Anyone getting a new pro iphone and excited to try usb-c to lightning and ‘fast charging’ - just leave the gigantic Apple unit in the box and get this one.- If you love the Apple 5w design and just wish it was faster, this is the charger for you. When I bought it it was 19.99$ which was a fair price considering the current its capable of. But I am hoping we will see these hit 15$ for Holiday 2019 and/or a combo deal with a cable for under 25$. Either way , if you are buying this for 20$ or less its a value. Over that, you start to get into some more competent options that have more current available (RAVpower comes to mind). So far this unit has been very reliable despite my attempts to torture it. If anything changes, I will update this review to reflect that immediately.I hope you found my review helpful - if you did, thank you.If you did not, please leave me something in the comments or a question so I can make it right. Thanks for reading my review,-Chris

I'll bottom line it for you: It's small and performs well. This is an excellent 18W USB-C PD charger. It's the one you should get for iPhone Charging. When comparing performance to the Apple 18W USB-C Charger included with the iPhone 11 Pro, it gets the same performance but the Anker is smaller. The prongs aren't foldable (on either) but the compact size makes up for it.

I noticed I didn't hear the telltale "double chime" you sometimes (but not necessarily always) hear when the phone renegotiates negotiates from 5V to 9V fast charging. Not to worry, I used a USB-C power meter and confirmed that within about two seconds the power output switches to 9V*2A (18W.) Comparing the power output of both chargers was nearly identical. Also when watching the phone charge percentage it increased by about 1% per minute during fast charging. These are the same results I see when comparing to the Apple 18W USB-C iPhone charger.

iPhone 11 Pro (Smaller one, not the Max)
From 40% to 80%, 20 min. (1% increase per minute linear)
From 80% to 90%, 15 min. (Charge rate gradually reduces above 80%)
From 90% to 98%, 20 min. (Charge rage gradually reduces as it increases.)
Slowing above 80% is normal for all iPhones. It's an operation of the iPhone (not the charger) to reduce battery damage at higher charge rates. Above 80% is generally no longer rapid charging which is the case with all chargers.

So to conclude, you get full 18W fast charging below 80% as well as the maximum rate the phone will allow for the remaining 80%-100%.
This is the ideal charger to put in your purse or bag and take with you in case you need a big boost and don't gave a power bank with you. I also have a 10000 USB PD Anker power bank that uses USB-C to charge and I'm going to replace the one I use to charge it with one of these because it's so much smaller.

The price is a bit of a drag, but you're getting the most compact highest quality charger available. It's costs less than Apple's. Spend a few bucks more and get one of these over a cheap competitor. Hopefully, the price goes down over time.

One final note. This is a 5V 2.4A (12W) / 9V 2.0A (18W) USB-C PD charger. It is ideal for a phone that uses up to 18W charging. It does not do higher 12V and 20V power output necessary for some other devices. Larger higher output chargers are available and ideal for those. But this is a perfect compact replacement for a phone-only Apple charger.
It should be fine for charging USB-C power banks.

Great budget option from a reputable company. Only $16 compared to $19 for ‘s original. This is the 20W version which is a nice upgrade. Previously this came in 18W version. Any little bit of extra wattage is appreciated :) Works perfectly fine with HomePod mini since the mini requires a minimum of 18W output. I got the USB C version so I can primarily use it to connect my 10ft USB-C to Lightning cable to reach my sofa. Talk about charging comfortably :p highly recommend this combo if you want a cable that finally reaches where ever you are in your living room or bedroom while also offering quick charge benefits & USB C like the one  offers.

The charger is compact and about the same size as the ORIGINAL iPhone chargers (the OG 5W white cubes) but with the upgraded wattage to 20W that will quick charge your iPhone to the fastest speed it supports. I got the white one (also comes in black) to match my other original  chargers. Great value, compact size and confident if will last for many years to come. When it comes to power & battery equipment, I don’t mess around. Rather spend a little more on name brand adapters / cables as they are built to last with quality & safety being top priority. You’ll also future proof as this will probably never have to be replace. DONT BUY CHEAP GAS STATION CHARGERS OR CABLES. While the cheap $3-$5 price may be affordable you’re getting exactly that. Cheap FIREHAZARDS. Non regulated designed to be made for cents and sold for dollars. I have read many articles of accidents / electric shock / fires due to these cables. Not worth it.

What else does if do? Quick Charge. Plug in your iPhone for a few minutes and you’ll have about 20-50% iPhone battery in little time to no time. Will definitely buy more at a later date as I’m finally upgrading all my AC adapters and cables to be USB C compatible. The quick charge benefits alone is worth the upgrade. And the compact size is great especially if you miss how small the original white cube was.

Buy it!! Just do it! :)

The Anker Nano is small and attractive. It is USB-C, so works with the latest iPhone-included cables (which are USB-C,) as well as with the Apple MagSafe charger. (It will not work with older iPhone-included cables without an adapter). It delivers power to fast charge iPhone.

The Anker Nano’s size makes it great for travel, small spaces and small power strips.

I did have a reliability issue with mine. After six months, it simply stopped working. I placed my phone on the charger like every other night, but noticed there was no charging indicator sound. Indeed, my phone wasn’t charging. After checking further, I found the issue was the Anker Nano. I contacted Anker and, after answering a few questions and providing a photo of the device, they sent me a new one, as well as a prepaid return box for the old one. So far, so good with the new unit.

I can’t claim a general reliability issue with the product as a whole over one unit failing on me. Sometimes, you get a bad one. If I find the second one fails, I’d be more concerned. But, it has been fine thus far. And, Anker stood by their warranty, providing me a replacement with no out of pocket cost to me.

Update on Nov 8:

After seeing my review, Anker quickly contacted me and exchanged the correct version for me. I have been using it in the last two days, and it works perfectly. I expected it to be small and efficient, and it is. I was very worried about the heat during charging, as some people mentioned in the comment, but it never happened to me after using it for two days. Overall, it is a great product with 20W charging in such a compact size. If we are able to travel in the future soon, I am convinced that it will be the best travel charger for your iPhone

Original review:

I have ordered mine and received the one with model number A2616, instead of the A2633 they put in the description. This means, the version I got is the 9V/2A (18W) instead of the new 9V/2.22A (20W) version. Before ordering, I specifically asked about it, and they replied that they will update the information on the page. However, they didn't and still sent me the 18W version not the 20W they described.

Not much of a difference you might wonder, but I just do not like the feeling of selling with wrong information. As another review says, there is nothing wrong with selling the older version, but you should not use the information for the new to trick people into buying the old version.

I have returned mine, and if the 20W version becomes available, I will still consider buying it. This is just for everyone else to know, the version you bought may not be the version they described
