Small but mighty amp
Nicely done, Boss! I really like the sound of this amp. I use both the internal effects (for those times when I'm too lazy to set up my pedals), and it works great with my pedal set as well. You can't go wrong with this amp.

Can't believe this amp is selling for such a low price and still sounds the way it does. I play in a loud-a$$ rock & roll band in some mid-sized to large clubs and still usually leave the power at 25 watts rather than the 50 watt setting. The tone -- while not as warm as, say, a pushed Fender Twin costing as much as a nice, new Buick -- is still so "tube-like" that it's hard to hear the difference, at least in a live situation.

A little tweaking brings out some truly luxe tones and the myriad built-in effects are just as good (at least to my ear) as the dozens of Boss pedals they can replace. I'm still using my regular pedal board, however, but only because there's no way to "push" the effects like boost and distortion with a volume pedal/guitar volume knob mix. You know what I mean: crank the volume knob but have the volume pedal dialed back at the end of the signal chain so you don't pi** off the wait staff or scare the ladies sitting down front.

But even if you're not using the on-board effects, this amp is truly amazing. It seems to be extremely well-made; I'll find out if this is true once it's spent a few months bouncing around in the band trailer. The lead player in my band also has one (which is how I found out about it) and he's had his for a while now without experiencing any issues.

It's just a cool, little intuitive amp with simple controls, plenty of power for most clubs and good build quality. Also, the fact it weighs a LOT less than my previous amp is a big plus! I won't go into all the features here; there are millions of vid reviews on YouTube that'll do that for ya. Just buy it and try it. If it's no good for you live, use it for a great practice amp in the living room.

This amp is amazing! I’m fairly new to learning guitar and the amp is perfect. The amount of effects and settings is super nice. When you’re starting out or even if you’re a pro, it’s nice to have so many effects to choose from without having to buy separate equipment. In my opinion, there shouldn’t be much of reason to buy anything else other than a pedal switch for toggling effects. The 50 watt is plenty loud enough for me, I stay on the 25watt mode most of the time. I’d say the 50 watt setting is perfect for small gigs and playing in larger areas. You can also connect the amp to a computer to control each setting in detail, use user-made tones and unlock new effects (for free) only downside is it’s not Bluetooth… but with a cheap printer cable it works great.
Looks pretty nice as well, just a clean black amp. It’s really fun to use. Also, this is still worth it even with gen 3 being out. There’s not much of a reason to get the new one.

My nephew turned me on to this amp as a good step up from my Fender Champion 20. The onboard effects eliminate the need for multiple foot pedals. 2 effects channels with 2 banks per channel provide a good basis for experimentation. If you want to setup your own effects combos, you can override the presets either directly from the panel or via the BOSS Tone Central app. The app offers thousands of effects combos you can download and install on the amp. The channels/banks can be selected using a footswitch with a TRS cable (footswitch and cable not included).

Power outputs of 0.5W, 25W and 50W provide versatility for a variety of venues, including quiet at-home practice. Jacks for a power amp, aux input and headphones complete the nice features of this amp. I’ve had this amp less than a month and am already thrilled with the ease of use, sound and features.

You can play anything with this amp. No, seriously, name a genre and this thing can get it done. Heck, name a guitarist, and I'll bet you can get this amp to emulate their sound. I spent weeks playing this thing without even touching the Tone Studio, and I covered A LOT of ground with the default settings alone. I think the only genres I can definitively say I haven't tried are country and jazz because jazz isn't in my wheelhouse and modern country is just... Ick. But I can guarantee you this can pull them off with the right settings. Once I finally DID set up the Tone Studio on my laptop (which is a bit of a pain ngl), it opened up a whole new universe of possibilities. It's a bit of a learning curve to use the thing to the fullest, but once you get it it's easy to understand. The channel customization is great, you've potentially got complete changes in genre at the touch of a button. If you're a novice who's just starting to learn and experiment, or just a casual player looking for something versatile and reliable, look no further. Granted, you'll never quite get the rich, distorted and overdriven tones of a nice tube amp, but you'll get close enough for government work. Can't recommend highly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly an Amazing Guitar Amplifier

This is really an amazing amplifier.

Do not let the smaller size fool you as it is very powerful and loud enough to play a small gig. I have never had the volume higher than 11 and that is as loud as I dared.

I did hours and hours of research on line before I pulled the trigger on this amp. Originally I was hell bent on buying a Tube amp. Well the one that I was looking at buying only had one channel and I wanted a 2 channel amp for more versatility.

After seeing many YouTube videos on this amp with an expert saying that it is difficult for him to tell the difference between this amp or a tube amp made me get off the Tube amp train.

The fact that this amp not only has one channel but 4 channels was for me the final selling point along with the great sound. With the foot switch that I bought I can easily switch to any of the 4 channels in a heartbeat and as such no need to buy a lot of guitar pedals to get various effects.

One can set the Wattage to 50, 25 or even a 0.05 Watt and even at that low setting there is still lots of Volume.

    Fun Fact

Something you may never read or see but this amp uses 8.5 Watts of power and that is whether it is on the 50 Watt or 0.05 Watt setting. So this amp is easy on your Hydro bill. My hair dryer for example uses 1365 Watts.

The amp comes with many built in sound effects. If you download for free the Boss Tone Studio software one will almost have an endless amount of effects as each one can be tweaked and then saved as a patch for future use or saved direct to the amp.

One can also buy patches crated by others that have a special sound that you may like, Also lots of free patches. For more info on how to use the software and even the Amp, check YouTube as many good videos on there.

For the price this amplifier sure is hard to beat and made in Japan is a plus as we know that Japanese Products are top quality whether it is cars, snow blowers, small engines etc. Huge difference between made in China or made in Japan . The shipping was also fast.

If you are looking for a great amp with a super price tag, you have just found it.
