"That girl who got knocked up in high school.”
Maggie Reynolds moved all the way to Los Angeles to escape that reputation, but she still hears the whispers of old scandal every time she comes home to small town Tennessee. For twelve long years, she's lost herself in work, determined to prove that she's more than one foolish, teenage mistake. But as each of her sisters has found love, she's feeling the keen edge of loneliness.
After losing his chance with Maggie to tragedy years ago, Porter Ingram has contented himself with the friendship they've rebuilt. His love for her is an open secret she refuses to see. But when Maggie's forced to take a sabbatical from work and comes home to Eden's Ridge, he knows it's time for her to face more than the demons she left behind.
Though he's been her steadfast rock for years, Maggie's blindsided by Porter's declaration--and seduced by the second chance he offers. As they navigate the rocky path from friends to lovers, Maggie faces the local gossip with her head held high. But the painful past they've put away is full of secrets that just might destroy the foundation of their forever.

Review
Oh my wow! Maggie & Porter's story is emotional & swoon-worthy. I was cheering so hard for them through their journey to HEA. Grab some tissues because there are some heartfelt moments along the way, along with laughter and messy life lessons. Kait Nolan weaves the perfect blend of family, heartbreak, humor and love at last. Don't miss out! USA Today Bestselling Author J.H. Croix

I started with some of her freebies, & really enjoyed her stories; both main & peripheral characters, plot lines, dialog, issues. And the folks at the Misfit Inn HAVE dealt with issues. You feel for their challenges & celebrate their triumphs. You fall in love right along with them. I’ve laughed and cried with them; my heart has been engaged, not just my imagination.
I read a lot. Sometimes I love both H & h; but often have to overcome a sense of ‘these 2 just don’t fit. What do they see in each other?’ In this series, I’ve enjoyed them all. I love that we keep seeing bits of other characters, so their stories continue. I love the story arc of bringing together this whole loving, messy group, with each sister adding to their mom’s story to repurpose a legacy that nurtures the family. I’d cherish each & every sister & SO as a neighbor or friend.
I felt the same about the whole Wishful series, too.
In these crazy & unsettled times, it’s lovely to have a book haven to cuddle up in.
I think I’ll start the next spin off series.

Porter came to live with Joan when his mom died and his dad turned to a bottle. She raised him as a son and it saved him. He owns his own construction company and has done well for himself. He has always been in love with Maggie. Everyone in town knows but Maggie. Ten years is a long time to wait for anyone.
Maggie is the only sister living away from Tennessee. She is a corporate lawyer in California and has done really well considering her childhood. Her mother went from man to man until she passed. Maggie was determined to not be her mother. As a teen she had a traumatic event in her young life. It left scars that cause her pain to this day.
Overworked and on the verge of serious medical issues her boss puts her on forced leave and sends her home to Tennessee. This is a great story. There is everything you can imagine. Misunderstandings, a great love affair, scars from childhood, mystery, secrets and of course a happy ending. It is a very entertaining read and I definitely recommend it. It was nice to meet Mia. I have already read her story in the Bad Boy Bakers series. Great read by the way.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 4/12/2022
Mutual trust and love are the themes of this story, but serious topics are also addressed. Kait Nolan handles those topics with dignity, and no sensationalism.
I've read almost all of Ms. Nolan's books, and I'm very impressed with her ability to gracefully address serious issues. You go, girl!
I I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout. and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I can't wait to see what Ms. Nolan comes out with next!
Finally we get Maggie's whole story and fall in love with Porter just like Maggie finally does. He is such a great character, and I was rooting for him all the way.
This is the perfect ending to the Misfit Inn series, and I love that we got an epilogue.
Now I'll be waiting anxiously for what Miss Nolan has for us next.
This stand-alone is easy to follow but might evoke emotions that make it difficult to read. No editing errors p, gratuitous violence or drag-you-down drama.
Compelling storyline of returning to a small town and the man she loves. Flexible procedures, actions and reactions. Believable characters with distinct personalities and great banter. Thought-provoking dialogue.
No desire to re-read this story. I am always interested in works by this author.
