Maybe i wasnt in the right frame of mind reading this but boy did it irritate me! Such a long drawn out ‘get to the point’ story.
Who gives you one sentence at a time when telling your story? Either you’re ready to tell or your not but to do it start to finish of book annoyed me. I stopped reading half way. Firstly people in their early 30’s are far more street savvy than these two ladies characters are made to be and are more computer savvy. They are rarely ‘stepford’ wives types from this age group, i kept thinking we were reading about women born another 30yrs plus ago. Who would let someone think that their husband left them when jnfact the husband died. Then act all surprised that anyone would think they had just left.

Whenever I finish an Emma Robinson book I feel a glow of satisfaction, and this is no different. The way she develops the friendship between Shelley and Lara feels so real, and peppering the story of their burgeoning relationship with hints at secrets and hidden depths, makes it a well paced and compelling read.
Robinson clearly understands what makes women tick and knows how to transfer that to the page. I did cry, but having finished this book, my heart is fuller than it was before.

I love settling down for an Emma Robinson read. Nobody does female friendships and family relationships as well as her. The Forgotten Wife focuses on two women who are both struggling/in pain. Together, they learn to open up, to navigate the past and to live in the present and look to a brighter future. The Forgotten Wife is full of Emma Robinson's trademark style and humour. There was lots of playfulness about the book 'Make Way for Joy' - a kind of Marie Kondo-lite - and there was her characteristic 'feel-better' ending. I massively recommend this heart-warming book - it is one which absolutely chases the blues away and it presents a great arguement for being more open about letting good people in to your life.

I just don't get the hype, people saying that they cried from start to finish.
If anything it made me cry when I got to half way and still had the second half to go.
The friendship between the two main characters was well written.
But the story was just a little dull. There was a little twist but I had already guessed it by page 26.
Also I really didn't like it how the character Greg's narrative changed after the twist. He seemed to have gone from the devil to a st. And don't even get me started on her boss he was just badly written.

Sadly this book did not really portray much of a storyline. Some reviewers said they were in tears from beginning to end - why? Maybe tears of boredom! There are plenty books far better than this so I don't think I will try anything else by this author. The only good thing was the lovely friendship that developed between Shelley and Lara.
