It works exactly as advertised and buying any sort of third-party cable will render you with terrible performance or complete non-functionality of your PC VR capabilities. It is absolutely horrendous that Meta charges $80 for a simple USB-C cable just to be able to use this function.
If you're reading this, I'm sure you're probably on the fence about buying it too. Let me tell you that I've tried three different cables from other third-parties to try and replace the functionality of this one and you're not going to find anything else that comes close. I'll either have issues with connecting to my PC, performance degradation if I do get it to connect, or a mixture of both. I had to fold and buy this cable just to get what I needed.
This works without a problem and I hate that it costs this much.

Honestly. This product works great. The fault lies in the design. I’ve maybe used this thing for about 20-30 hours of gameplay, and I’ve had no issue. Well I just got done playing today and removed the usbc3 connector from my computer. I noticed the connector was a little loose so I kinda wiggled it a little bit to see if it was just like that or if it was broken and it fell right off. I really don’t understand, I’ve been VERY careful about this cable because it’s so damn expensive. It’s ridiculous.I’ve reached out to Oculus support because I’ve had it for a little over a month now, hoping I’m not just SOL and out $70.Will never purchase again, terrible design for the computer/laptop connector side. The headset connector is great and sturdy. (Added both sides in photos)Like I said, I was insanely careful with this product.I would make sure I was facing one direction the entire time so I wouldn’t pull or step on the cable. The design really needs to be rethought. Honestly just having the computer connector mimic the headset connector would be a huge upgrade to durability.Hopefully they re-think this design because it’s not worth the risk.Edit 6/23/2021I am sending the cable back through Oculus Report to exchange for a refurbished replacement through the warranty. Will update when I receive it. I also ordered a way cheaper alternative through Amazon. Will update how that goes as well.Edit: 7/1/2021I sent the cable back and UPS said they received it 6/25/2021. Haven’t heard anything yet.The cable I bought as a temporary replacement is way better than I thought. Quality wise it’s literally the same as the oculus cable, the only thing is it won’t charge your headset. But if you aren’t playing for more than 3 hours 30 minutes at a time you’ll be fine. This is the one I got: KRX Link Cable Compatible for Oculus Quest 2, Fast Charing & PC Data Transfer USB C 3.2 Gen1 Cable for VR Headset and Gaming PC. You’ll have to copy and paste the link. There’s no drop in quality of picture or performance, only downside is the charging. I recommend that cable as an alternative to this one. Another bonus is that it is USB to USBC3 instead of double USBC3.Edit: 7/13/2021STILL waiting on a replacement cable. They’ve confirmed they received my return but it’s been since 6/25/21, so not sure why it’s taking so long to send out a replacement. Terribly long time for support. Really glad I bought the other cable for cheap. Honestly it does everything but the charging, just get that one.Edit: 7/15/2021I’ve been contacted by a representative after I asked what was taking so long. I was told that the “Warehouse team is trying to locate your returned item so we can get the replacement to you.” So I guess we’ll see where it goes from here.Edit: 7/23/2021 -FINALI was told by the Oculus rep that “the warehouse could not locate your return”. But they sent me a brand new cable anyways so that was good I guess. Disappointing that it took a month to get a replacement on such an expensive cable. Just go third party way cheaper and more reliable.
