Very Bright, Maybe Not for Camping

I believe these lanterns are for specific needs and I'm not sure if car camping is one of those needs. Let's talk about the pros.

Pro: The lantern is versatile. You can hold it from the top, from the side, or hang it with a hook. I like the the lantern automatically turns on when extended. I also like the magnetic base. I feel the magnets could come in handy while working in the garage or in a tight space in the basement. Again, the lanterns can be used for a variety of functions.

Cons: The light is BRIGHT! I don't know the amount of lumens as it is not indicated on the box. But, the light is bright. I use lanterns for camping and the amount of light it puts out is too bright for a camping situation. I prefer soft lighting that compliments the campfire or that gently lights the inside of the tent. I also like lanterns that have different intensities of light. With this lantern, it is either full strength or off. The plastic on the lantern does not feel sturdy. However, this does makes the lantern lightweight.

Overall, I would not use this lantern for camping. I would, however, keep one lantern in my emergency escape bag, I would keep one in my garage for working in dark corners, I would keep one in the basement, and I would keep one as a backup flashlight.

Order shorted two Lanterns due to mislabeling of product ?

However the front of the box clearly says 2 Lights, additionally the contents of the box is clearly 2 lanterns.

Compact and lightweight, this Eveready 4 pack Lantern is a great choice for outdoor and indoor area lighting. Very light weight and very bright (provided you put all the batteries it requires in). It has two different battery configurations--you can choose to either put in 2 or 4 AA batteries depending on how bright you want the lantern. I have no problem seeing 15 feet in front of me with the lantern set to its brightest setting. My favorite feature is that the light is diffused so it is easier on the eye. Our power tends to go off during the hot summer days so I gave one to each of my family members. The flashlights we have were always hard to find and just not conducive to what we needed. These have a nice handle for carrying, or they sit on a surface and provide you with an easy "lamp". Safer than candles during storms. I wanted to test these lanterns on multiple levels so I had my daughter try them out last night to practice her footwork for soccer. It lit the grass up where she was working very nicely.
Overall, I think these lanterns are a great value for the money and every family should have a set for around the house. I received these lanterns free for my honest review.

Soft glow in the darkness

I was excited to receive the Eveready Collapsible Camping LED Lantern, 4-Pack free to review as my children and husband love camping out and these are perfect for that. I didn't anticipate how much of a lifesaver they would actually be. Shortly after receiving them, we ended up losing power for more than 3 whole days and with no electricity and winter on its way, it is DARK! These lanterns provided soft light so we could safely move around the house and helped avoid panic in our small children. The light itself isn't too bright, rather a soft glow. I prefer that to a blinding, bright light. They last a good amount of time with all 4 batteries in them, but if you are short on batteries and don't need them for extended periods I like the fact that they can run on 2. I would definitely recommend these lanterns for camping needs but also in case of an emergency or power outage as well!

Rule #1, ya get what ya pay for! With that being said these are a pretty good value for the price and are great as emergency lanterns which is what I bought them for.
They will illuminate a 6 foot circle of area effectively when suspended with either the hook or magnet base. The wire feet are ok but don't count on them in the long term if you use it a lot.
It's white light and I really don't get the whole "it's too bright thing" You can temper the brightness by just not extending the collar all the way out. This in no way compares in output to a dual mantle coleman at full burn... so there.
I'd wrap it in a can cozy, couple of socks or similar items if it goes in the glovebox.
The flashlight function gets points off in my opinion, the most lackluster part of the ensemble. Maybe 10/15 feet at best? why? throw a few more LEDs at it with a focus collar and that would have been awesome.. but noooooo, the red beaconing light is actually brighter than the flashlight function ...go figure.
But hey, its got 6 bucks worth of batteries included, all ready set to go?
It's a deal.. you want something better ..go out and spend the money and you'll get 1 for probably 3 times the price.
It works and my chickens certify it for late night work in the coop

This is a real bright lantern. No complaint. But...I cannot make it work with Amazon rechargeable batteries! It seems the rechargeable batteries are not exactly the same size as original batteries so contact is not made...With Duracell, it seems it's gonna work but if you move just a little you may lose contact too! I use lanterns for hours every summer night. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars in batteries so these are quite useless for me...maybe unless I break the little plastic tab that prevents contact to be made, so I'm not sure I want to do it...
