I grabbed this to extend my MacBook Pro MagSafe cable. It works for that perfectly. The cable now to use MagSafe is around 10' long and it is working perfectly. Only complaint is it is kind of stiff. Im worried about it being bent too much and breaking. But so far, so good.

TLDR: Universal / non-directional cable might actually need to be plugged in a specific way for all features or specs. I did not realize this for some 'aftermarket' cables and had already returned two of this brand so i cant actually confirm these DID work.

So after having purchased another similar cable from a different vendor i fear i may have just misused (sorta) the cable. See after buying and using a longer length cable (where length can be an issue for signal related things much more easily) we experienced the same issue when connecting a MACBOOK PRO (2019) via the cable itself vs through a USB-C hub with power delivery. I was baffled that all these cables can't possibly be this wrongly advertised. I noticed one review of this other cable stated that someone had to swap either end around to get the cable to actually work for all features and it varied on device some times. I swapped this other cable around every which way and finally did find a 'configuration' that worked and just sharpie marked the cable to not mess it up in the future... this is kinda silly because USB-C is supposed to be non-directional / universal but i guess its something in the manufacturing to make them cheaper while still technically delivering the specs.

Attempted using 3.3ft one to connect a USB C charging hub to a macbook pro (13" 2019?); HDMI and Charging work but for some reason cannot get USB devices to work at the same time. Proved the hub works without the cable. (did not try ethernet or SD cards on our hub).

OTHERWISE, cable seems well constructed, durable ends and very flexible cable.. hoping mine is defective.

You need to know what you're getting into when you purchase it.

There is one polarity with the logo facing up and another with the logo facing the bottom. One polarity will just passthrough video and audio, the other will passthrough video, audio, and data. That's the one you want to go for.

Aside from the polarity issue, the cable works great and as expected

This cable, hooked up between my laptop and my USB hub, is simultaneously pushing through:
- Ethernet, working at ~90MBPS (because of my Ethernet cable limitation; likely can handle more)
- USB mouse
- USB keyboard
- Power

Warning: If a device is plugged into the female in one orientation, everything works just fine. Unfortunately, the other orientation does not work for my peripherals (keyboard/mouse) and only passes the ethernet and power. This isn't so much of an issue for me because I'll rarely be unplugging this side (so I only need to set it up properly once, then leave it alone). However, if your usage will require frequent unplugging from the female side, this might be an issue.

The male side works in either orientation as expected.

Other Pros:
The braided cable seems sturdy, and has some firmness so it keeps the general shape if bent.
Male side seems to fit snugly into my USB-C ports.

I needed an extension cable in a pinch and first this didn't arrive when it should have, pointless if needed in a pinch. Second the cable outputs 54w when plugged into a 61w apple charger, figured this out under System Information - Power and it displays 54w charging when at 32 percent. Third I did not know why it was not displaying any image to my external monitor also none of my peripherals were not working on the Usb-c Hub until I read from one of the reviewers that you need to flip the connection to the hub and boom it worked Strange... and last but not least, this cable is very stiff, I understand why but Ive had multiple usb-c cables that Ive bought on amazon and still use them to this day after over a years use that aren't stiff and great quality. Using this cable especially moving from one MacBook to iPad on the daily is quite cumbersome as the stiffness makes me wonder how long this cable will last as you have to twist it every which way just for it to sit properly when plugged in. Will keep the cable but might have to look for another brand as I am not too sure how long with this last with switching from an iPad Pro and MacBook Pro multiple times of the day.

Update: Changed rating from 1 star to 4 stars because of sellers excellent customer service. Insisted on sending me a new cable as the one I had must have been defective, which is quite possible, things do slip through. Will give it another try. Nice to see though a seller who is apologetic about a problem and does everything possible to make it right.

I bought this for an extension to the video adapter I use for my monitor. When using this cable with adapter plugged in no video is displayed on monitor. Does not even recognize it causing monitor to go into sleep state.
My Thunderbolt 3/USB-C is fully capable of displaying video as that is what I have been doing.
Don't know if this cable is defective or it doesn't do what is advertised as doing but sending it back to Amazon.

Does not work with Apple Thunderbolt Display

I bought this to use with my 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display, but it does not work for the display. On 2016 MacBook Pro (Catalina) the video jitters and flickers. On 2020 M1 Mac Mini (Big Sur) there is no video at all.

Both machines work fine when connected as follows:
Thunderbolt display > Apple Thunderbolt cable > Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter > Mac

But when I introduced this cable to save on wear to my ports, the video does not work:
Thunderbolt display > Apple Thunderbolt cable > Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter > IVANKY extension cable > Mac

Otherwise, the cable is very attractive and appears to be high quality. It just didn't do what I needed it to do.

very slow cable for me, tried all orientations. other orientations do not work.
[edit] Found out that when attached to the front panel casing port, connection is unstable and slow as earlier observed. when connected to the back motherboard, I achieved 200 MB/s write speed to external SSD which is the same as when I connect without the extension. For this reason, it performed to my needs, and I revise to 4 stars. Orientation dependent. Also, not sure whether it can reach the rated 20 Gbps though as I won't be testing that.
