My Warrior (Bewitched And Bewildered Book 12) Kindle Edition
When their city unexpectedly faces tragedy after tragedy, and a vote of No Confidence is brought before the queen on how these things are being handled, and Ari finds himself facing his greatest fear, failure.
Brie Wilson has been a Deputy Sheriff in Monroe for years. She loves the small town of her birth and the laid back atmosphere that makes it a wonderful and safe place to live. But even small towns have their own quirks and problems. Outside a few exceptions at the station, she pushes daily for her efforts to be recognized by the men on the force. Still smarting over her last break up where her ex likened her to a man, she decides the safest route is to stick to herself and never get her heart broken again.
When these two selfless warriors find one another can they learn to lean on one another before the body count escalates? What does it say about them when it’s easier to face murder than the deepening feelings growing between them?

I'd give it 5 stars if the author would do something, anything, about the typos - at least 16 of them that I marked and several more I didn't bother with. She REALLY needs an editor. That said, the typos are my only complaint.
Yes, there are A LOT of new characters introduced in this book - mostly because she did NOT introduce a bunch of new ones in the last one, My Solace. To address the griping of those who complained about that - you cannot move a series on by only using old characters. This book takes place in the pillar city of Eire Danu, the land of the fae. We will have new characters as a matter of course, and those characters- who will be important later on, need a little page time.
I'm also not sure why some readers are suddenly complaining about how quickly Brie accepts Ari. This astounds me considering that Rheia - My Healer, was the longest holdout. All the other human mates were a VERY quick insta-love. It may have seemed fast, but that was due to Brie coming into the story a bit late - Chapter 3. It still took her 6 more chapters to accept Ari.
I actually found this book to be one of my favorites. The author is moving a bit more outside of the box - which I appreciated as reading the same old thing over and over bores me. This book had more action and a kickass heroine who took care of business. I enjoyed how active she was throughout the book.
Her relationship with Ari was fun and, while many didn't see much "romance" between them, I felt it in how much support Ari gave Brie. Romance and love don't, and shouldn't, always equate with sex. It's accepting someone for who they are that enables a strong relationship. There are still plenty of sex scenes, but I was happy to see more character growth than sexy times.
Meryn is still winning new people over, kicking butt, and taking names. She's calling people out on their BS, and managing multiple "work arounds" to aid the unit warriors. I still adore her character, and am enjoying seeing her continue to build relationships with others - one of which might surprise you!
The book ties up nicely, regardless what other reviewers said. It ends with the typical "happy for now" between Brie and Ari. The only difference this one had was that there was something beginning to happen in Eire Danu. EVERY other book ends the same - a wrap up of that books relationship and intro into one of the next books main characters. We all KNOW something WILL happen. So, again, I'm perplexed at the complaints about this one. We are not left not knowing if someone lives or dies. We're left with a "I wonder what the hell is happening now" vibe, as people rush back to the palace. No one's lives are in immediate jeopardy, and no one's fate is left hanging anymore than in the rest of the series.
I loved the introduction to Eliana's Daughters, and I'm sure we'll see more of them as the series continues.
I think a lot of the initial poor feedback was due more to My Warrior releasing late on iTunes, Nook, Kobo, etc... it took an additional 3.5 days to hit those platforms and the readers were angry with the author, though it's not her fault. I saying this because I'm seeing a lot more negative reviews this time than at any other since book #6, My Guardian - when we 1st traveled to Noctem Falls - when everyone was griping about how LITTLE page time Eva and Adriel got as a couple. In this one Brie apparently gets "too much". You can't make everyone happy, is the moral of this.
Alanea, keep doing what you're doing. I think you're an awesome writer (who still needs an editor), but your story-spinning and world building are phenomenal! I can't wait to see where you take us next!
But now I need to know what happens next. LOL
Ari Lionheart is the youngest brother in the Lionheart clan of Declan and Rex.
That doesn't mean he isn't a capable warrior.
Far from it.
While his unit may be one of the youngest in the paranormal society, they prove themselves capable when chaos is unleashed within Eire Danu.
Ari especially after he shifts into third form and is represented as Belladonna by Meryn and given the codename Nightshade.
Things start to fall into place about his character.
We get to meet Ari's mate in this book, obviously.
Her name is Brie Wilson and she is just as great as all the other female mates we've been meeting in the past books.
She is strong, independent, and isn't afraid to speak her mind.
Looking up to Meryn is just an extra bonus, and speaks of her own character. LOL
Being a deputy sheriff, she fits in with the unit warriors and loves that her mate wasn't looking for a docile female to play betty homemaker.
So much happens in this book.
My Solace left off with Meryn, Oran, Darian, and the others trying to convince the Queen of the Fae that ferals had somehow made their way into Eire Danu.
This is where My Warrior picks up.
They are trying to get her to understand the severity of the situation and take control instead of burying her head in the sand and denying the facts.
Once things start to unravel, more and more is revealed about the ferals and fae living outside of the parallel world.
Tragedy strikes as it seems to always be doing, but things take a turn for the better, only for it to end once more in chaos.
My Warrior seems to end on more of a cliffy than the other books have in the past.
We didn't just get to hear about one of the warriors dreaming of his mate.
He's running and thinking of how this reminds him of a certain dream.
This story is told mostly from Ari and Brie's points of view.
However, we do get one (chapter eighteen) from Meryn's point of view that enlightens us on a few things.
And of course, the epilogue is from the next warrior to find his mate, Gage.
I can't wait to see what Alanea has in store for us in the next book.
You get the sense that things are finally starting to unravel and the big secret, why all this is happening, will finally be discovered. Though I know we still have a bit of a way to go.
I'm super excited (and hope book 13 is in the near future) to see who Gage will be mated to and what she will bring to the party.
This is a series that I highly recommend.
It is a go-to must-read for me.
Whenever I'm in a slump, it's what I reach out for.
You can never go wrong with it.
It has happiness, sadness, drama, anger, and mystery all within these pages.
If you haven't picked them up yet, do it now.
You won't regret it.
I really loved Brie, she really is a kick butt warrior woman. That’s not to say that the other women in the series haven’t been seriously awesome, and Eva is beyond capable of taking care of herself, but Brie is a true law enforcement professional, so when she comes into the fold you get to see a woman in a warrior role which is not something we have seen until now. And we also get to see what that means in terms of how the men in the units will treat her along with that. I also love that she had background knowledge of Meryn and they kind of were able to operate well with each other because they both knew each others strengths.
As for Ari, another Lionhart, what is not to love. He’s very adorable, and I really liked some of the scenes with him and Brie, there is definitely some lightheartedness in this book that is direly needed because of the kind of person Ari is.
This book was heavier and darker than in the other books. In the previous books you have a lot of danger but you have the ability to really fight back. In this book there is a lot of heartache and coming in after the fact which brings along its own set of challenges. More and more is being unravelled about what is really going on, leaving more questions than true answers, and I am honestly really excited to see where we go from here.

Brie was a strong character, her police background allowed her to merge with the warriors seamlessly adding her own personal touches to increase their effectiveness. Ari being the baby Lionheart is spoiled by all that know him yet he remains a selfless warrior doing all he can to protect his people. They are a perfect couple Ari is strong enough to accept an independent and fierce warrior as a mate but dominant enough to treat her as the woman she doesn't realise she needs to be as well. All hell is breaking loose in Eire Danu and Merryn and her acolytes will be need to help the fae ride out this storm.
I thoroughly enjoyed everyone of these books and each adds an intricate piece of the puzzle I can't wait to see what comes next.

Meryn is the hero of the books, she is a human, speaks geek, a hacker, anti-social but loveable. Aiden is a warrior, a bear shifter. Their love is amazing.
Each book concentrates on a new mating but all of the books are intertwined and the characters are brilliant - I love them all. They are loving, funny, sexy, caring, snarly, crazy and I'll say it again, loveable.
It is primarily MF romance but there are a couple of MM but they are so sweet they make you want to hug them, laugh and cry with them.
Every time a new book comes out I re-read the series and buy them each and every time. I do read a lot of books on KU but there are some that are keepers and these books are it.
I'm going to cut and paste this review to each of the books as I hate repeating myself in a review and I'm only going to say the exact thing for each of the books.
Read them, you won't be disappointed.

Ari Lionheart is the youngest brother in the Lionheart clan which includes his brothers Declan and Rex. This doesn't mean he isn't a capable warrior, in his own right far from it. While his unit may be one of the youngest in the paranormal society, they prove themselves capable when chaos is unleashed within Eire Danu, Ari especially after he shifts into third form and is then given the call sign Nightshade from Meryn. We get to meet Ari's mate in this book, her name is Brie Wilson and being the deputy sheriff in Monroe, she fits in with the unit warriors and loves that her mate wasn't looking for a docile female to play betty homemaker, she is strong, independent, and isn't afraid to speak her mind.
I'm super excited to see what Alanea will have in store for book13 and to see who Gage will be mated to and what she has in store for him and his future mate and the rest of the gang. I highly recommend this brilliant series, it has always been a must read for me and I am always re-reading it through out the year. It has happiness, sadness, drama, anger, and mystery all within these pages.
Well done Alanea for yet another absolutely brillant book in this great series, keep up the awesome work!!!!

She has made up a world that has blew everyones mind and I can't get enough.
I am loving seeing the new characters plus old favourites. Although sometimes it was hard to keep up with who was who, you soon figured it out so it didnt take you from the story plot.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I liked how it was more about fitting the peices together than action constantly on the go. I think it's going to give us a better understanding for the next one.
But.... and this isn't an issue. I felt like the ending was so rushed. I understand it was meant to be a cliffhanger but it felt like their story was unfinished. I'm kind of wondering how the next book will begin. Will it continue with Ari and Brie or start with a new couple?
Even with the sudden ending (That made no sense to me) the story was incredible.
Alanea has to be one of the most talented authors I've come across and not one of her books have left me disappointed.
