Product Description
New SM214 design cover is designed by SAMOTECH to let Philips Hue users install the Dimmer Switch on top of existing light switches. Thus keeping the dimmer where it should belong and protecting the light switch from an accidental switch off at the same time. As it stands smart bulbs will only work if they are supplied with the electricity. Switching off the main light switch disconnects the smart Philips bulbs and renders the Philips Hue features useless. The SM214 cover helps to keep your Hue routines operational and protect the bulbs from an accidental power cut.
The SM214 can be installed on any Decora type wall plate.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Remove the existing screws holding the wall plate around the rocker 2. Attach the SM214 base around the rocker by using the new screws 3. Clip on the SM214 cover on top of the base

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

If I had one wish it would be for slightly stinger magnets, on par of the original ones that come with the hue remotes. They work adequately for me but for people with a more aggressive touch or kids the remote falls off way to easily.
Still great product. Just make sure you get the right type for your version of hue remote and wall switch.

Pic related, the official hue wall mount on the left, the SAMOTECH on the right.
Fits over your existing toggle-style wall switch,
and gives you a place to mount your new Philips Hue remote control.
Why not just use the plate that Philips includes?
That plate mounts flat to the wall - next to a light switch.
This one covers up an existing light switch - which is ideal
*if* that light switch happens to control the fixture(s) that
your Philips Hue light bulbs are installed in.
There is an opening in the adapter plate, so you can still get at
the old light switch, if you need to.
So. . . why only a 3-star review?
Two things -
The magnet that holds your remote in place is not quite strong enough.
It needs to be more robust, or perhaps slightly larger.
Yes the remote stays in place, but tends to lean forward,
which you might be able to discern in the attached picture.
More importantly - If you install this plate using the hardware provided,
you'll quickly notice that the whole adapter plate moves around.
It won't stay straight, and is easily knocked off kilter.
This is because the adapter plate desperately needs
some spacers around the screw holes to stabilize it.
Further, the included screws are nylon, and are VERY flexible.
Most people will not be able to securely mount this unit as-is.
Two things I recommend, if you want a secure installation -
1.) Pick up two new screws from the hardware store.
#6-32 tapered (oval) head machine screws, exactly an inch-and-a-quarter long.
2.) Pick up two nylon spacers. Ideally 7/16" tall x 3/8" outside diameter, x 1/8" inside diameter.
(You may have to get a 1/2" tall spacer, and carefully cut it down to 7/16" with a razor.)
Take out the existing cover plate screws.
Put the new machine screws through the adapter plate, and the spacers on the back side.
Position the adapter plate over the old switch, and tighten it down.

One of the biggest problems I have faced when converting older relatives homes to smart homes has been the adoption of using an app to control the lights and keeping them from constantly flipping switches and throwing the system out of whack.
This product helps to alleviate that by covering up the standard wall light switch with a base for the Hue Dimmer Remote.
The only downside of the product is that for some reason (probably cost related) they decided to only include one metal washer on the back of the plate. Since the Hue Dimmer is magnetic it depends on the metal washer to stay attached to the base. The single washer does keep the Dimmer attached to the wall, but just barely. A second washer would have ensured a more secure attachment to the base and probably cost about a penny to include.
All that said, I would still recommend this low cost, easy install product to make your smart home a little more user friendly.
