Works on my old windows XP laptop

I have an old Windows XP laptop that is incredible for Microsoft word and PowerPoint. Even mine newer computers are not as fast as this one when it comes to pure word processing and presentations, so I actually enjoy using this .

Had to give a presentation recently where my wife's laptop with HDMI wasn't available to me, so I had to actually use my XP laptop instead .

This thing connected perfectly into the VGA port of the laptop and passed the signal through to HDMI and a modern HDMI projector no problem. Just plug and play.

Anybody needing to use older technology with VGA and connect it to HDMI can't go wrong with this.

I tried this once and it didn't work, so I tried returning it and the second one didn't either. It isn't like I'm making some technical error. I tried another VGA to hdmi converter using the same computer, hdmi cable and monitor, and get a working result. Only this product doesn't work. I tried with and without the USB power. I tried multiple USB power sources. I don't know what else it could be. If it has something to do with the USB power then they should provide a power source. No issues with the other converter. So these TWO attempts are going back.

This was my original review: “It worked to get my second screen working, but the cable does not give a HD version of my screen, its a bit pixelated and it feels stretched out, I tried all the screen options to adjust the screen but it didnt work, but at least I somehow have 2 screens now and I can work with that”

But then I realized I was dumb and I had to attatch the USB cable as well and now everything works perfect, 2HD screens and no lag! Perfect cable and Im dumb haha

Not for MS-DOS systems!

This is a rather frustrating review. This adapter works perfectly with one very major caveat: The VGA output MUST be 1920x1080! No other resolution will work. In particular it will not work with MS-DOS or any other system that cannot set the output to 1920x1080.

The product documentation clearly says "1080p" but does not say that it will not work at any other resolution. I bought it in order to adapt a couple of old MS-DOS systems to a new display. Total fail for that need. At least it is cheap.

If you can provide 1920x1080 resolution, then this is a five star device. Otherwise it is a zero star device.
