I have owned at least 6 WD Black drives and none have failed me or disappointed me. My computer runs great on this WD Black 850 ssd. It is faster than the Sabrent junk I replaced it with. The errors went away and so did the malfunctioning apps.

I had to reinstall my windows 4 times in the last 6 months because the Sabrent drive went bad. First the apps do not start or turn themselves off. The games start malfunctioning and become slow to respond. The files get corrupt and cannot be fixed using cmd prompt and restart.

The Sabrent customer service is not there to help you, they just troll you. They make you do a long list of things to prove something they do not want proven just to wear you down. You have to reinstall your windows over again for the fifth time in a year and use unknown apps to do tests which are meant just to keep you busy so you will give up and just throw it away instead of trying to get an RMA. They are rude and pushy too. They gave me a two days deadline to use an unknown app to test the ssd while I was busy from doing another windows reinstall that did nothing. The millions of bad files could not be fixed. Still no RMA.

There are literally dozens of complaints about all of this from Sabrent support on the other reviews. The drive goes bad in 6 to 8 months and all Sabrent customer support does is give you and endless wild goose chase of tasks just to wear you down and cheat you out of an honest RMA.

I bought a WD Black 850 and moved on. All the problems went away when the Sabrent ssd went away. BUY THE WD BLACK 850 instead and save yourself endless headaches. My computer has never run better now with the WD Black 850 and is much faster too.

I bought this for my PS5 Digital version. I looked on YouTube for reviews before purchase and this came across as a solid investment. The speeds are on the higher side of those out there and it is a Gen 4 with heatsink. I caught this on sale during Amazon Day and wow was it a great deal. First off are the speeds. There is enormous difference between Gen 3 and 4 and I guess that’s why Sony made that requirement. I had almost 300 GB of games on initial hard drive, and it transferred to the new drive in less than 2 minutes(insanely fast). The new Gen 4 drives are fast, but they do get hot so spend a little extra for the heatsink version. Extremely easy to install and I can see nothing at fault with this investment. Great price point with impressive performance makes this on the better drives out there. The last thing that does not get talked about enough is that this fits the Disc and Digital version PS5. There are Brands out there that make drives just for the PS5, but they only fit the DISC version. You cannot go wrong with this one since it fits both versions plus PC builds even with the heatsink. Great investment.

Added this to my setup. Twice as fast as the SN750. But Windows makes things very difficult with set up. Damn near impossible to clone and make the boot drive.

I had to format to GPT. Clean. And reinstall Windows. Windows wouldn’t install with both m.2 installed on the MB. I had to uninstall my SN750. Install Windows to the SN850 then reinstall everything I had.

I own cloning software. Wouldn’t boot. Changed settings in BIOS. Wouldn’t work. Had to clean and start from scratch. Make sure you back up all your files beforehand and have Windows on a USB to reinstall just in case.

But once it was all said and done. Instant on. Instant Load. Now the last thing to get is a 1080 or better.

I bought this on sale with an after market heatsink MHQJRH M.2 2280 SSD heatsink, Double-Sided Heat Sink, with Thermal Silicone pad to install in a PS5. It installed perfectly in the console. YouTube helped in the installation but it was super easy. Once I rebooted the PS5, it formatted the new drive and I was good to go. I think at retail this is too expensive but I caught it on sale at another online retailer. I had been watching some of the other brands that were known to be less reliable but jumped on this when it was discounted. I copied over several of the games on the console's main SSD to this one and everything went smoothly. I haven't seen any performance hits when playing those games off the WD drive.

Bought for PS5 internal storage extension. Compared with Samsung 980 Pro, this was a couple of hundreds cheaper and was higher rated and recommended in several online reviews on PS5 / gaming review websites.

The Sept 2021 firmware update of PS5 is must for using the M.2 Storage. PS5 requires the M.2 storage to have speed above 5500 mbps.

Received the package on time, sealed original box. The box contains only the chip and product litrature. Sony recommeds using a heatsink. I went with Jonsbo heatsink (silver grey or black). The combo meets the size requirements of PS5.

Fitting the chip to PS5 was easy and is shown in several videos on Internet. The holding screw and placer are already given in PS5. Only thing to be careful about is that placer should also be moved in correct hole before putting in the screw. I missed that first time but thankfully realised it before powering on, and had to open the PS5 console again to fix it. Remember to ground yourself properly before handling the chip. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, better seek help of a friend who knows his ways around computer parts.

On switching on the PS5, it automatically detected the chip storage and gave option to format it. For first time installation, you must format the storage in PS5. It also detected the speed as 6655 mbps, which is almost the rating of the chip (7000 mbps). The size is detected as 1.01TB and shows full 1TB as available out of which some space is taken by PS5 system files. PS5 moved 3 games and 2 apps totalling 260 GB in under 2 minutes to the chip.

The games start from the chip (shown as 'M.2 SSD Storage' in PS5 settings) and there isn't any noticeable lag/latency compared to inbuilt storage.

So far PS5 treats internal storage and M.2 SSD as two different storages, so one has to decide to store which game where. PS5 has option to set the M.2 SSD as default storage for games & apps. There are separate options for PS5 and PS4 games. I plan to use the M.2 SSD as default as all games can be played directly from there as well, no need to transfer games to inbuilt storage. I anyway delete games that I've finished and don't plan on playing again. With FTTH broadband at home, re-download isn't a big problem. 1TB+667GB should be sufficient for about 10-15 games that I keep around in console. With talks that newer PS5 games will be smaller in size due to better compression, maybe togather it'll be good for 25+ games each averaging about 60GB.

Overall, very satisfied with purchase and happy that my PS5 will hopefully not run out of game space now.

I am a game developer, and when I used to build the games it used to take forever to load the assets from the disk and start the build process, now it instantly loads and keeps the cpu busy with the building process, truly amazing... the build times decreased significantly... It comes pretty handy when multiple builds have to be tested with few changes to debug some issue which can't be done in the editor

Apart from that, I play video games for which this ssd is kindof an overkill, but when DirectStorage is released, games would be able to use this kind of performance to directly stream the textures to gpu in realtime reducing the ram usage and improving the loading times substantially... kindof like what ps5 and xbox series does.... Really looking forward for this feature

I wanted a high performance ssd since a long time, but the ones available in India weren't really worth it, and compared to their prices in US they were totally unreasonably priced, 1tb variant costed me Rs. 20499 which seem worth it for a flagship ssd.
