This was a solid book of basic Swedish folk and fairy tales. According to the Preface, the author did her best to find distinctly Swedish stories which would appeal to American children, and I feel that the book holds to that quite well.
One especially nice thing about the book is that after each tale there is a short blurb citing the source of the story, and occasionally other factoids about the tale. It's not super exciting, but it's nice.
There's an active table of contents, but the 'List of Illustrations' is a lie.
