– this is book one of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone

– this is told from Ava and Carter’s point of view

– the romance does not go past kissing/making out (though the topic of sex does come up a few times); one of the make out scenes spans several pages

– * major spoiler in this point*

the main characters believe for a time that they might be siblings, but choose to kiss anyways as they don’t know for sure and are still attracted to one another

I removed a star because of the several page make out session, I just personally wasn’t comfortable with it. The only reason I’m ok with the major spoiler point mentioned above is because I knew the author would not have let it actually happen.

Overall I really enjoyed Ava and Carter’s interactions and chemistry! They were both so entertaining and I loved to see their feeling grow for each other 😍. I especially liked the scene(s) with the two of them in the garden! Plus, it was cool to see how Ava and Elyse went about trying to figure out who their dad was.

Ava and her twin sister have just started at a new school and Ava is already assigned a tutor. One who she discovers is quite handsome but isn’t interested in starting a relationship with anyone. But maybe she can change their arrangement to benefit both of them without breaching the contract they made each other sign…

Carter just got out of a relationship that he thought could last forever, that is until his girlfriend dumped him and moved onto someone else. And now they are in some of the same classes and she wants to talk to him even though he isn’t ready to let her. So when Ava suggests that they pretend to date, Carter is all for it. But he didn’t expect to feel more for Ava than he ever did with his ex. This pretend relationship wasn’t meant to break the rules, but it seems to be more likely as each day passes.

Will Ava and Carter choose to stick to their contract or throw it out the window in the name of love?

I was hooked to this story. It had some definite twists and turns. I saw the direction of the story and knew the final outcome……but not the specifics……it was still great to read. The chemistry was swoon worthy. Clean story….no cursing….no sex, just some major kissing.
The epilogue was a set up for the next story. While I usually despise when authors do this, I did not mind with this one since it included the original couple in it heavily.
I hate hate hate when I have to enter my email to access an extended epilogue. I was so hooked to this couple that I begrudgingly gave my email. It gives a five years later look. It was super short and needed to be edited but overall it was cute. Worth entering my email…..that’s under debate.
Overall, I enjoyed this story and will definitely read the next book.

Aww! This story was so sweet!! And angsty. I had several visceral heart fluttering moments and tears dripping off my chin multiple times. I love Judy Corry's Ridgewater High books but this one might be my new favorite.

Ava and her identical twin sister Elyse have just moved from Ridgewater to Eden Falls to start their senior year of high school at Eden Falls Academy. As a condition of her enrollment, Ava is assigned a math tutor and she is so embarrassed about it that she convinces her tutor to fake date her to cover up their tutoring sessions.

Carter, Ava's math tutor, is aloof and broody but he agrees to fake date Ava so that his ex doesn't think he's still hung up on her.

Carter and Ava quickly become friends and then more and start dating for real only for family drama to come between them.

Forget star crossed lovers with ancient family fudes, this is a truly forbidden romance that I will never forget.

It was predictable in a way because obviously they weren't related. That would be a stick and twisted and depressing story. Corry did do a good job of leaving you wondering who the twins' father was though. Being related was a real concern for the characters obviously, but as a reader I was never concerned. But it allowed for some pretty sweet and I tense scenes though.

Overall, I enjoyed the story, but I think it was a lack of true urgency and worry about what the characters were going to do that I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. The rift between them didn't seem urgent to me because as a reader I didn't believe Corry would make them siblings.

I found myself looking for something light after my last read and I found this little beauty. When I say I reassigned that I enjoyed it, as it the complete opposite to what I usually read!

So we meet twins Ava and Elyise.. Ava meets Carter sparks fly but he is working on his no girl rule. They become tutor and student, to fake bf/gf, to friends to then admitting their feelings. It is your typical boy meets gjrl... But it's not! As much as it's a 'clean ' book the mature way that sex is spoken about was refreshing. With some family drama that may put a spanner in their relationship we see two young start their journey into a blossoming relationship!

I'm off to read book 2 !!

I didn't like this one at all. I already knew the big reveal because I read the next book after this. But even otherwise, I was not a fan of Ava's and Carter's relationship. I felt the author forced the characters together and there was a lot more "tell" than "show" in this one. I liked both Ava and Carter individually but together, they didn't make much sense.
