I would like to start by saying I started out with a Hyke & byke katadin 0° synthetic bag that was pretty cheap as well but I was highly let down by its Performance. So I eventually had to search around for a replacement and after watching many reviews on Dan Becker outdoors YouTube channel I decided to purchase the Celtic cosmic 20 which was the best decision in my camping gear investment I’ve ever made honestly.

If you plan to get this sleeping bag, make sure you don't open it in your living room. This thing came with weevils, yeah those, the kind you find in old flour or rice. It was gross and totally unexpected. I think it may have been due to all the feathers, not down; that was pretty much all within the sleeping bag liner—lots of small feathers and pieces of feathers, brown grey and some white. I'm only sorry I didn't decide to open it in the garage or the backyard. I had already removed all the labels and was checking it out from the outside and did notice a smell, kind of like a pigeon coup, but it never occurred to me that it was due to the feather basically coming out of the cheap polyester lining. Then when I opened it, and the smell really hit me, it made me sneeze, and my eyes felt watery. Definitely a hard pass for me; I'm returning immediately. Buyer beware.

I just got back from a 4 day backpacking trip in Colorado. We camped above 11,000' for 2 nights and above 10,000' the other 2 nights. I was NEVER cold and it got down into the 30's. I did sleep with my long johns on though. Even when it was cold outside I was instantly warm when I got in my sleeping bag, and it's very light weight.

I love this bag, just from trying it out on my bed. Feels great, very toasty for just 70 degrees in my house (obviously). The foot area is obviously not very big, so don’t expect to be spreading out. I like the color too, it’s a kind of deep blue, with a tan inside. Standing with it around me, I can extend my arms up almost half way up pushing the hood area above my head. My only real issue, which isn’t really a problem, is the shoulder width, there isn’t much room to move your arms, which to me isn’t really that big of an issue, but if it wasn’t going into my backpack and being carried out on a trail and then backpacking back to the car in the morning, i would go for a bigger bag, but since this isn’t really an issue for me, I’ll be fine with a lighter, smaller bag.
(SORTA BIG UPDATE)
I realized after posting my review that the bag advertised a phone sized pocket inside the bag. I decided to try it out… and it doesn’t fit my iPhone 11… kinda annoying that they advertised something that is completely useless. I haven’t tried to put anything else in the pocket, but tbh I would just forget about it all together. But kelty… cmon, just make the pocket a little bigger.

Pro tip: pair this with the Kelty BFF blanket and you can either use it as a pillow on mild/chilly nights, or stuff it in with you as extra layers on extra cold nights. The soft side of the Kelty BFF blanket works as a kind of wicking layer while providing that extra protection between you and the really cold night.

When planning for a backpacking trip I needed something more compact. My previous mummy bag was synthetic, 30 degree rated, and took up too much room in my pack. Did some research and this was smaller, lighter, rated 10 degrees warmer, and fit my budget.

Down packs incredibly easy, I’ve come to find out, so packing it away is so much easier than synthetics. The bag itself is very comfortable. I appreciate the two way zipper with the option of opening from the bottom. This bag kept me very warm (granted it was only low 40s on my first use). Built in hood was also very warm and comfy, actually made my inflatable pillow more bearable too. Recommended product.

This product works wonderfully! I had never used a mummy sleeping bag before this product so I didn't realize that to get the full effect I needed to close the drawstring face portion (my bad). The first night of use was pretty chilly because I wasn't using it properly. Once I saw the drawstring on the second use, I was much warmer. The material is very soft and squishy. I highly recommend it!
