Holy crap holy crap holy crapppppppp! I’m still trying to catch my breath after holding it for the entirety of this book! So much happens! The plot twist that happens super early on (end of chapter 5 I think) had me FLOORED and then the whole book was just one insane turn after another! I loved seeing Evangeline’s character development and how her “relationship” with Jacks changed and evolved even more. I loved that Marisol was almost completely absent too, girl can get lost 😘.
I think my favorite thing about this though, is that there is no villain - everyone has their own motives for unlocking the Valory Arch which makes them do questionable things to make sure its opened. And lord knows our poor Evangeline is stuck in the middle of the chaos.
Jacks, babe, I love you but I wanna smack you on the back of the head and yell “why are you like this?!?” I love that we get to learn more of his backstory and history but I still don’t understand why he does what he does half the time 🙄

I’ve been so excited to read the conclusion of Evangeline and Jacks’ story so imagine my surprise when I had about 1.5 hours left and nothing was even close to being resolved - in fact MORE PROBLEMS kept coming up!
But excuse me? WHAT THE HECKKKK WAS THAT ENDING? I was totally expecting this to be a duology and that the story would be wrapped up by the end of this one. But NOPE! Like if you need me, I’ll still be over here dangling off the edge of this cliff waiting for @stephaniegarber to tell us that there’s one more book or something. Because I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who thought this would be the end of the story. Although, I will note, I shouldn’t have been surprised, it’s noted multiple times throughout the book that “Ballads don’t have happy endings” and I should’ve taken that a freaking face value 🙃 HOWEVER, Evangeline still has one broken heart tattoo left 🤔

When I tell you I nearly cried opening the package for this book! I’ve been wanting a physical copy of this book for ages, but I absolutely DESPISE the new covers (puke). This cover is far superior in my humble opinion, but this edition is so hard to come by without people trying to charge a STUPID amount of money. I was so scared to open the package when it was delivered ten minutes ago, but as soon as I saw it peeking out at me… well, I’ve never been more excited about book mail, and that’s saying something because nothing brings me greater joy than book mail and this isn’t even my favorite book… I’ve never even read it. I know, I know… getting all worked up over the cover of a book I’ve never even read is wild. Despite the warnings against it, I do judge books by their covers and I don’t want it on my shelf if it’s not a cover I like. To me the cover makes all the difference.

Continuing the story and adventure of Evangeline and Jacks,
I’m in love. I need this book for my bookshelf. I can’t wait for next book to come out!!
This is a story like no other. Unique uses of literary devices, story telling like you wouldn’t believe, and a swoon-worthy romance to top it all off is *chef’s kiss* perfection. I’m so in love with this series.
