    A great, insightful, informative, and truly enjoyable read (really, David is a wonderful and hilarious writer — I found myself breezing through this). I have always considered myself a traveler, but the reality was that my work did most of the heavy lifting for me in the planning department. The result has left me slightly intimidated to plan + execute my own trips (more pressure?). Not only did David's book motivate me to make it happen, it gave me something I didn't expect: a new mindset about travel. Hands down my favorite part of the book was outlining your "why".     Foreign travel has become more challenging during the past decades as worldwide travel has ballooned immensely. It’s a far cry from when I hitchhiked around the Western Europe during the late sixties. I went without a plan - only to see as much as I could in seven weeks. Europe on Five Dollars a Day was my guide. Incredulously, I came close to doing that and I still have vivid memories of that adventure. That can’t be done now. Get Away! is today’s counterpart, updated with the author’s numerous travel and preparation tips that are essential for today’s less-experienced travelers. This book is really two books in one. The first is a contemporary guide for anyone, no matter what their experience, to navigate all the complex possibilities and pitfalls of today’s travel. The second is a collection of first-hand anecdotes highlighting the author’s personal experiences. Although packed with numerous hints and useful information, the author ultimately encourages the reader to be the curator of their own adventure and explore all the wonder that the world has to offer.

    I bought this book/audiobook on a whim. I am always planning but never actually taking trips. It becomes daunting & a frustrating task. David Axelrod breaks it down in small bit size pieces which will make planning trips, even for work, that much easier. The book is litter with anecdotes and personal stories. From the beginning Mr. Axelrod states that no two trips are alike and no two people are. Well done. I will be looking for other books by this author soon.

    Starting off, there was a fair bit of info that wasn't new to me, so it felt a bit slow. I wasn't sure I was going to finish the book I'm glad I did though, as the book picked up around the halfway point and dropped a wealth of knowledge and helpful resources and tips.

    The knowledge is fairly strongly aimed at people traveling internationally by air, but there is still a good bit of general info that's equally applicable to intranational travel or traveling by cruise.
