Uni-T UTI 260B Needs a Charger of Greater Capacity

I have amended this review. My previous review said that it would not turn. The manual recommends using 5V/1A or 5V2A chargers. I used it with three different 5V/2A chargers and could not get it to charge to the point of turning on.

Fortunately, I did hear from Uni-T who offered to send me a new charger to use and that is appreciated. In the meantime I had previously ordered a 5V/3.1A charger from Amazon. I tested it when it came in and the 260B finally began to charge to completion and had no difficulty turning on.

I had used it about 4 times previously, then left it in a camera carrying case I got for it and never charged it. The battery was dead the next time I went to use it which could have been at least six months. I thought the device either went bad, or the battery was dead.

I was concerned that the on/off switch was leaking current and that is why the battery was dead. It was about half charged when I put it in the case. My guess now is that they must have a "keep alive" circuit that bypasses the on/off switch to maintain data stored in RAM or similar, or otherwise I do not understand why the battery went dead in storage.

It might be a good idea to plug in occasionally to charge and make sure the battery is topped off and not discharged to zero.

It now appears to be working normally, although I will monitor the battery situation to make sure there is no abnormal drain on the battery between uses.

This is a very sensitive unit. I pointed it at my keyboard and it will show the keys that I have touched in revising this review. The difference of my hand on the mouse shows a definite temperature increase just for the minute or so I was moving it. That is quite good.

I have changed my evaluation to 4 stars for now and I will further monitor it to make sure there is not something affecting its battery life. For now, I am pleased with its operation and thank you to Uni-T for reaching out. I hope this review will help other users in trouble shooting.

I honestly had higher expectations appon buying this but it helped me with the tasks of finding hvac ducts behind drywall that i bought it for. if i could go back i would buy one were i could adjust ambient temps as that is my biggest issue with the thermal camera when the room im using it in is hot (80f) the screen gets really distorted and cant see anything and shows everything as cold colors really hard to distiguish when what your looking for is only 70f-75f i will be upgrading once i can afford too. This camera i do not recommended for hvac more for small electrical components decent product very sturdy well built tool

Only downside is the image quality is not the best, but can't complain due to the price.
I wouldn't recommend for use in a professional manner but I'm only using this around my house.
Long story short....

I had hi hopes for this since I purchased several of the company's DMMs and was very pleased with those. This Thermal camera on the other hand is JUNK!! The resolution is so bad you cant even describe what you are lookin at. Maybe I just received a defect?
