After the other spinner, which was too fast and nonadjustable, this one was a breath of fresh air. I turn it on/off with remote. It can spin very slowly or fast. It even switches directions. It takes batteries. So far it's been great.

I'm slowly turning my office at work into a college dorm room. If they want me back in the office, I can at least make it more like home, right? A mirror ball was added not long ago, but that's kind of boring without a rotator.

The remote is perfect for me because it prevents me from having to climb on my desk just to turn it on or off. Mostly that's good because OSHA would not be pleased, nor would the janitorial groups union who technically should be called to do work that requires a ladder etc. The added benefit is that I'm more likely to turn it off when not needed vs letting it continue spinning until I feel like climbing up there, so it'll save on batteries and climbing altogether. The remote lets you turn it on and off as well as change the rotation speed and direction. Despite being a stereotypical cheap button cell remote, it works quite well.

The only issue I have with this product is that the battery door on the rotator itself is a real PITA to open. There's a tiny nub to pull the plastic springy part back that snaps the door in, but I can hardly get my fingernail under it, and it took several tries to open. This could definitely be improved on and I'm a little concerned that if that tiny cheap nub breaks it might be nearly impossible to remove. But hopefully I won't have to do it very often.

This is an interesting "gadget". It arrived well packed, had a battery already installed in the remote, and good instructions. There are two models of this rotator: one has a rechargeable battery in the rotator body that is recharged via a USB connection. This other model uses AAA batteries (not included). It can be switched from clockwise to counter-clockwise rotation. There are three speed 'bands'. And the rotation duration of time can be set, all by the remote. So it's a great way to rotate a "disco-ball", a nursery room mobile. etc..

I was thinking I'd turn a glass light-catcher in the window very slowly. Unfortunately, the lowest speed is still 5rpm when the batteries are fresh or the suspended object is relatively light. The vendor confirmed the speed bands depend upon those factors. I wanted the lowest of the low range- 1rpm, to generate a mesmerizing sun pattern, not a faster kaleidoscope effect.

So if your application can afford some variance in the rotation speed, or if you can use the higher speed of any given band by keeping the batteries fresh, this should work well for you.

I was not sure when I saw the first time this little motor would be able to move the mirror ball I have, which is 15 inches in diameter and maybe 10 pounds in weight, but it turns out it did. It comes with a small remote with a battery, which is very convenient because you can control the direction of the rotation, the speed, the timer, and the on/off. The motor comes operated by AAA (2) batteries, which are not included. I think the price is reasonable; I hope it will last for a long time, and it feels reasonably solid. My kids love dancing with this ball.
