Love, Hope, Lyme: What Family Members, Partners, and Friends Who Love a Chronic Lyme Survivor Need to Know Kindle Edition

4.9 4.9 out of 5 stars 97 ratings

If you love someone with Chronic Lyme disease, buy this book now!

If you have Lyme disease and want your family, partner, and friends to understand this mysterious disease, make them buy this book!

When Fred Diamond, cofounder of the prestigious Institute for Excellence in Sales, decided to learn more about the Lyme disease that afflicted someone he loved, his life changed. He read every book on Lyme, joined Facebook groups, attended webinars and podcasts and quickly realized that he knew hardly anything about what Lyme disease survivors go through on a daily basis.

So, he wrote this book.

As Fred says in the book, where there is love, there is hope. With proper medical treatment.

In this groundbreaking book, written specifically for those who love and want to support a chronic illness survivor better, Fred covers the following:
  • What You Need to Know about Lyme Disease
  • Neurological Concerns
  • The Little Things You Can Do to Make Everyone’s Life Easier
  • Covering Family Activities
  • Gluten-Free Diets and Nutrition
  • The Six Stages of Healing
  • The Costs of Curing Lyme Disease
This book will offer those who love someone with Lyme ideas and tips to support this beloved person.

The book features a foreword by the preeminent Lyme doctor, Dr. Richard Horowitz.

Dr. Horowitz said in his Foreword, “Let this book be a rudder for your ship during difficult times. If you persist and never give up in the name of love, hope will find a strong foundation, and your life, and the life of your loved one, will be all the more enriched because of it.”

“This is the book everyone who loves a person with Lyme disease or any chronic illness needs to read. What a beautiful guide to navigating the journey in a better and more supportive way as a partner.” Amy B. Scher, author of This Is How I Save My Life: Searching the World for a Cure: A Lyme Disease Memoir

“Love, Hope, Lyme is as an excellent resource for patients and their families who are beginning the long and difficult Lyme journey. It is filled with excellent information, and it would be great if it could reach as many Lyme-suffering families as possible.” Dr. Neil Nathan, author of Toxic: Heal Your Body from Mold Toxicity, Lyme Disease, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, and Chronic Environmental Illness

"This is one of the most important books on chronic illnesses I've ever read -- and the only one I know of specifically for navigating a spouse's chronic illness."
Yessi Young, author of It's Not Just Lyme: Understanding the Metabolism's Role in Fighting Chronic Infections

“Fred Diamond has done a great service to the Lyme community by writing
Love, Hope, Lyme. People with chronic illness need support—often physical support, but always emotional support, and Fred details the ways wives, husbands, and friends can help those who have chronic Lyme disease. I agree with Fred that hope is key, and when Lyme patients themselves feel hopeless, loved ones can hold it for them with compassion and love. Most people with chronic Lyme get better, and sometimes they need to be reminded of that on a daily basis. Fred gives an excellent overview of how you can help a loved one with this illness.” Daniel A. Kinderlehrer MD, author of Recovery from Lyme Disease: The Integrative Medicine Guide to Diagnosing and Treating Tick-Borne Illness

If you search for Lyme disease on any book search you will find how to heal guides written by doctors and you will find personal memoirs written by survivors or caregivers but you will not find the type of book Fred wrote….a book about how someone who is not suffering from Lyme can help and relate to their friend, loved one, coworker, who is suffering.

I have been on multiple sides of Lyme. I have been a caregiver to a child with chronic Lyme. I run a nonprofit dedicated to providing financial assistance to those with Lyme and now I am a person living with and healing from chronic Lyme. I wish I had this book to better understand how my daughter felt and how I could support her better when she was at her sickest. I wish that people close to me would read this book to understand that while my symptoms don’t look the same as my daughter’s, they have impacted my life profoundly. Support from friends and family would mean the world to me. We need to support Lyme patients as much, possibly more than we need to support those living with other severe illnesses/diseases like MS or cancer, but sadly that is rarely the case.

Thank you Fred for writing this book so beautifully. Thank you for listing practical ways to support someone with Lyme. Thank you for making those in the Lyme community feel heard and seen and cared for. Your book is touching lives and giving hope.

If you're living with a Lyme diagnosis, get this book. Appreciating what’s going on in your own body is likely the hardest thing any of us will do. Bringing family and friends, your support, along on your journey is also hard. This book is a gentle read that hits the wave tops of this disease. My family and friends found this book not only informed but put many of the pieces in place for them. Thanks Fred!

Having contended Lyme for years, I've secured some TopGun LLMDs when needed over the years as well as i have read numerous books written about Lyme. This book by Fred Diamond is extremely well put together and its contents clearly carefully compiled and represent a wealth of information. He covers so many aspects and I loved the business entrepreneur aspect sprinkled throughout the book which inspired me, as I could relate in having developed and ran businesses myself all the while doctors and lawyers I worked with were unaware I had Lyme. This book - Love, Hope, Lyme - is a keeper, a true encouragement, and it is info rich. Thank you, Fred Diamond, and I believe this book will be far reaching as you're clearly making a difference!

Well written and very informative. I thought I knew the basics of Lyme Disease. I was way off. Everything from coinfections, impact of household mold, the many symptoms and more. Fred provides clear and actionable information on what Lyme Disease is, how it affects the body, and what we can do to help those inflicted with disease. Many of the things Fred discusses about caring for a partner are also relevant to being a good caregiver overall, not just for someone associated with Lyme. An easy read including interesting vignettes and stores, I absorbed the information in one sitting.

Fred Diamond's book, Love, Hope, Lyme is a great book to read if you have Lyme disease or know someone with Lyme. I have suffered with Lyme disease for over 38 years and this book is the first one I have read that is written for the spouse, family member or partner of someone with Lyme Disease. In a practical and straight forward way Fred shares a lot of information about Lyme disease and the challenge of living with someone who has Lyme. Lyme disease is most often misunderstood and not explained well by the Lyme patient. I find that I share little with my partner since it seems like it is doom and gloom with every doctor visit and every phantom pain symptom. It is getting old after almost 4 decades dealing with it so I share little with anyone. My partner is reading the book now and I am wondering how he will react to the information. I am hoping for a deeper understanding of my day to day. Thank you Fred for writing this book!

As a resident of Eastern Long Island, Lyme prevention has become a way of life - clothing, repellants, constant examinations, as well as rushes to the E.R. with engorged tick specimens. I have digested an enormous list of books, articles, web posts, etc. on what I believed to be an exhaustive library on the subject. But, I was mistaken - up to now that is. Fred Diamond's book is the first and only that I have come across on the most important subject of how to better understand the disease from the point of view of the infected and how to support them with love and empathy. Mr Diamond does not have a medical background and does not have a list of previously published books, but what he does have is a uniquely genuine and sincere voice on the subject. Due to his personal connection to a Lyme sufferer, Mr Diamond has done the research and homework for all of us. Through numerous interviews and analyses, we get as close as possible to understanding the horrendous challenges of the Lyne sufferer, without having to contract the illness itself. This book is a MUST READ for anyone who has Lyme or knows someone with Lyme, which means practically everyone. A STANDING OVATION FRED DIAMOND - WELL DONE!

I read it from cover to cover in one sitting. I would highly recommend it to anyone who knows someone suffering from Lyme!

5.0 out of 5 stars A much needed book for those who care about someone with Lyme and/or Tick-borne diseases
Reviewed in Canada on October 20, 2022
This was an easy to read, and understand, book for those that care about someone dealing with Lyme and/or Tick-borne diseases. As someone who had been ill for many years before finally receiving a diagnosis, and who has been managing symptoms for many more years, I’m very appreciative of this book.

As the one that is chronically ill I did find it a bit depressing as I do not have the same support that the author provided to his wife. However, it did provide some snippets of information that I found valuable.

I would recommend for anyone that would like to support a family member, friend, or even patient, in their journey to wellness.

I would caution anyone that is dealing with Tick-borne diseases themselves that this book may not be for you, especially if you do not have a good support system.

I buy or read as much as I can about Lyme disease because I don't know much about the disease and there's not alot of info the doctors can tell you.
I was diagnosed last summer and have had extreme pain in my knees since as well as brain fog and exhaustion so it's good to read up and find out these are long term symptoms of the disease. Would recommend.
