Thank you for bringing a new perspective to this genre! While my favorite series is still KF Breene's Leveling Up series, which goes by the standard midlife-woman-gets-new-powers-and-then-wields-them-surprisingly-well-to-save-the-world plot, this book was a refreshing break from that theme that I've seen in 100% of the other books I've read in this genre. And how the story was set up seemed to make more sense to me than some other stories. I also liked the funny dialogue. I will be continuing this series!

This was a great read from a *new to me* Author. Fast paced and fun with a touch of snark. I love the MC, Melissa. She's quick witted and smart mouthed but doesn't let hardheaded willful blindness endanger everyone around her. Her only goal is to make sure her daughter is safe and she makes smart decisions to ensure that.

Melissa's daughter is portrayed as a typical teen with bratty mood swings who loves her mom but is, again, a teenager. LOVE to see that instead of the "I found out I have powers 5 minutes ago and am now powerful enough and savvy enough to be saving the world" trope. I've enjoyed my fair share of those, but this is a breath of fresh air. I can't wait for the next one and am now eager to check out this Authors other works.

This adventure combines a feisty teenage daughter who has to begin to come to terms with stunning and incomprehensible changes in her life - as well as contend with normal teenage angst. Her fierce, loving and protective mother makes her own set of jaw dropping discoveries. It is a wild ride for both of them! A world they never knew existed arrives full force and hurls them into the middle of it.

This is an excellent addition to the growing field of mid life women's paranormal fiction and is great for YA, too. (No sex!) There is a lot of potential for the story arc to grow and I hope to see much more of this series! Highly recommend!!

This book kept my interest from the beginning. I liked the storyline and the flow of the book. I also liked Melissa's character. What I didn't like was the cliffhanger type ending. It ended with nothing actually resolved and a lot of unanswered questions.
