I am a measure of a pantser who does only a bit of outlining and plotting. In this book I related to a lot of the struggles the author mentioned having when pantsing as well as problems they brought up a pantser may have. I myself have struggled. This book gave me a lot of ideas of how I can fix my problems and improve. In a way that is more beneficial for me. I have read several outlining and plotting books. As well as books on getting your book done quickly. This one is the most helpful and applicable one for me and how I function as a creator.

I'm a pantser, and I often find books on craft to be very rigid and confining. Not this book!

This isn’t just a book on how to write a book. It’s a tool to help a writer write and flourish. Rachelle talks about her experience with this process, and how her self-analysis helped her write quickly. One of my favorite things was the questions at the end of each chapter, where she asks about YOUR writing process, gives you the opportunity to dig deeper into yourself and figure out what makes you tick as a writer. Then she gives you priceless pointers. She doesn’t tell you what to do. She gives you the tools, the guidance, for you to find your own solution.

I’ve read many of Rachelle’s books on craft, as well as many of her romances. She’s an amazing writer. I am grateful to her for sharing her talent with her fellow writers and authors. My respect for her is unwavering. Rachelle, you’re the best! Thank you!

I was looking for insight in how to write faster and found it. I've heard over and over again to keep writing. However, thinking of that first draft as the 'vomit' draft now makes that doable. Jut the word rough didn't work for me.

A little surprised that this book was pretty short but the pantsing process as detailed is inspiring and I am eager to try it out on my next story.

Maybe she covered this but would have been nice to know how she decided her WIP had reached The End other than the deadline constraint.

Overall a helpful read to spur on my creative juices.

Rachelle has given us not just a how-to book, but a self-analysis tool to examine how our brains write and thrive with it. She details her thought process using a book she wrote, explains where she had to retrain herself and shows how to succeed at writing quickly. Then, at the end of each chapter, she gives questions to ask yourself about how you write. The best thing is her key takeaway points at the end, guiding you to use what you've learned about yourself in writing your next book. She doesn't teach you her way, she helps you find your way.

A bonus is the books and guides she mentions along the way. I can recommend a few from experience, and I'm going to look into others right away. I've been in a stagnant spell with my writing and am excited to realize I can get my flow back! Thanks, Rachelle!

Her books are never longer than they need to be. I love that she included her cliftonstrenths top 5. I'm a high adaptability and ideation as well and loved to know that we had similar strengths!
Also, loved her brainstorming as I do that and I would stop myself thinking I should save it for writing time but now realize those daydreams help a lot!

Tons of people who pants deeply prefer to write that way. Ayala was willing to experiment, and she's already a fast drafter. I read previous books in this series.

I think that this method will click for people who prefer not to outline. I've refined my own process over the years to use outlines, but she certainly points out that you can complete a novel by the seat of your pants in 14 days if you wish.

There are millions of people who can't finish a novel in less than a decade, so I applaud this author for sharing her process with other people.
