Is Your Journey to the Centre of the Earth Really Necessary?: A Whitsuntide Science Adventure (Whitsuntide Science Adventures Book 2) Kindle Edition

5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars 1 rating

1942. Professor Whitsuntide – Madman! – Scapegrace! – Milksop! – is on a race to the Earth’s Core, accompanied by a bizarre super-team, Earth Corps, including psychic spy Viola Crisp, rogue archaeologist Somerset Smythe, electromagnetic freak Savoisy Abplanalp and Enzo McWheattie, noted linguist and stooge. Oh, and the world’s most boring policeman, Inspector Peter There, but we can disregard him. Everyone does.

Competing with a rival Nazi drilling machine, Earth Corps must establish diplomatic or other relations with the Lost Civilisation within our hollow and warring world. But dinosaurs! Amazon warriors! Bulbous barbarians! Giant chaffinches! There are a lot of disadvantages to life at the earth’s core.

Featuring Rudolph Hess as himself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal & hilarious

Wonderful sequel (do read the original too!) I can't recommend it highly enough. Absolutely hilarious, brilliantly plotted, beautifully written. As if PG Wodehouse smashed into HP Lovecraft, with a smattering of Douglas Adams. So long as Mr Cairns writes Whitsuntide books, I will read them.
