There are these rare moments in reading where you start a new book, meet the characters, learn their personality, dynamics, and the plot and think, “wow, this book is going to be one of my favorites.” This book gave me that feeling early on and boy it did not disappoint.
This is my first read by Claire Contreras and all I can say is WOW. It is so, so good. One of my favorite reads of 2023, and one of my favorite books of all time!
I am not a crier when I read. I think I have teared up in a book once or twice before, but this book had me bawling my eyes out. That was a first for me and I was not prepared. But I love this book so much more for it. The feelings you have for these characters and their story is unreal!
Lyla and Lachlan are just everything. Lyla is one of the strongest FMC I’ve ever read. And Lachlan is top tier book boyfriend material. (He’s up there with Chase Carter, Ryan Shay, and Garrett Graham, ladies and gentlemen - I’d say he’s in good company 😉).
This book is sports romance with an air of mystery. It is broke into two parts set in two different time periods. And caution: chapters 46 & 47 will have your heart melting 🥹🫠 I think I have both these chapters highlighted entirely 🖤
But please check the trigger warnings before you dive in.
“I don’t know if there’s something that goes beyond love, but whatever it is, that’s what I feel for you,” THIS is how I feel about this book. I cannot find the words to tell you how good it is. Infinite stars, infinite spice, and infinite swoon. Be prepared for a major book hangover after finishing this, but trust me it’s so worth it. This is a book I’ll be coming back to again and again.
Claire, you are amazingly talented. Thank you for these beautiful characters and their story. And thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing us Lachlan Duke! 😉🖤
