I thought Suzanne’s book was well written, very concise, and perhaps most significantly, informative. I am a consumer of BHRT, and in my particular case would not consider avoiding natural hormones. That said, as with so many things, evaluating your health profile to determine if it is appropriate is essential. If you have a family history of breast or uterine cancer, it is probably best to avoid BHRT. If you are predisposed to problems with uterine fibroids, be very cautious, as estrogen dominance must be avoided. Your doctor can help you determine whether you are a candidate for BHRT. In my case, I like the cardio protective aspect of elevated HDL cholesterol that stems from BHRT. The ability to sleep better and avoid night sweats is a real plus. Perhaps more than anything I take BHRT to preserve my bone mass. Nothing helps preserve your bones like BHRT, which is extraordinarily important if you lean towards osteopenia, or worse osteoporosis.

I just love this book.
It is not the first time I have bought it. I bought it for a friend whom at the time just had a hysterectomy.
I swear by bioidentical hormones because I never ever could take anything with estrogen because I was born with a bad heart.
So doctors will not use estrogen for extra risks of heart attacks. So no birth control, when Ihad menopause, I had to rough it out. So to spreak. When I knew I had ti have a hysterectomy, this became life saver for me.
No estrogen, all natural, all what your body needs.
It all being with 2 things anyway. One you already do at the doctors, a blood test, for hormone levels and Two a spit test to help finely tune those hormone levels.
They will keep doing this until they get you "balanced".
When you are balanced your world is your oyster.

I am always looking for books to recommend my patients to read, and this one is a pretty good one. As a Psychiatrist, I have been using bioidentical hormones as part of my Integrative medical practice for almost a decade because of the limitation of conventional psychiatric medicines. Again Suzanne uses her fame to interview some interesting people in the field of Anti-Aging medicine. This offers the general public some ammunition to take to their physicians when seeking more complete medical care. This book has received quite a bit of heat in the general press and from physicians who just aren't keeping up with the latest research and the desires of their patients. Some of the points of view in her book are quite controversial in the field (such as cycling or not, especially T.S. Wiley style and the use of Growth Hormone), but I believe that it is worthwhile for these issues to be covered.

The addition of Adrenal and Thyroid health to this book (from her previous books) is extremely important as people can't achieve truly good health without these being in balance.

Like the push to have Natural Childbirth in Hospitals lead by the baby boomer women

in the 1970s, the use of bioidentical hormones is probably going to be the conventional way to treat aging women--and men--once the Baby Boomers push their doctors to be ready for prime time....This book is a good place to start.

Never been a fan of Suzanne Somers, however, a dear friend recommended this book. I took this book for what it was, enlightenment and a huge contrast from medical jargon. It really opened my eyes to the way our hormones rely on each other to keep us in tune, and the way inside and outside elements cause depletion of hormones. I have been using bio-medicals for years after a hysterectomy. I am not 100%, but so much better than I was. I am using this book to tweak whatever it is I feel I'm lacking, (which as of late is low tolerance for stupid people, with no common sense.)

Negative reviews about it being an infomercial? Whatever. It is about researching, based on her life issues. She says it over, and over. She is not pushing people to do anything, but to research for themselves to better their personal well being. This is information that needs to be passed down to male and female alike. Wish my mom(s) had the data back then to give to me. I would be so much better off than I am now. And yes. It does cost to be healthy. It is worth it.

This is an informative book on a controversial subject. I thought I had found the answers in this book! However, bBeing a person who is of the average working class with company provided health care insurance, my only critique of the advice Ms. Somers offers is this: Normal health insurance (at least the kind I have) pays very little, or next to nothing for compounded pharmaceuticals. Plus, insurance pays next to nothing for the hormone testing panels to see where your levels are. I had to spit in containers, freeze them, and send the saliva off to a lab miles away. It cost 250$ out of pocket. Since you are taking hormones that are not created by your own body, they fluxuate all over the place. So if you cannot afford to have the testing panels done regularly to monitor them and adjust the medication, and you do not have time to run back and forth to the doctor’s office… and, your feel awkward spitting into vials while you are at work, then the whole process becomes pretty monotonous, and VERY expensive, and pretty much mute! Plus, I had a very hard time finding a doctor in my area that believes in the bio-identicals period. NOT ALL OF US HAVE THE RESOURCES SUSANNE SOMERS HAS!

Only half way into the book but it contains so much great information that makes me want to go out and find a Doctor who will be able to address my health on an individual basis and provide preventative medical treatments to avoid disease and improve health. A great read. I recommend this book and Suzanne's other books about Bio identical hormones to anyone who wants to be healthier and avoid illness and disease.

Some of these hormones are available on the NHS, you just need to know what to ask for. Also, there are private doctors in the UK that offer this service.

Grazie Suzanne!
