From Acorns to Zapote fruit, here are all kinds of wonderful fruits, nuts, greens, mushrooms and more to teach children (and their grown ups) about foraging. Each page features a poem and charming illustration about a different wild edible or medicinal plant, with other plants that start with that letter decorating the margins for kids to try to identify.

The end pages feature reference photos of all of the additional drawings. Kids can also sign the forager's pledge, keep track of their foraged plants and wish lists, and will be reminded about foraging safety and ethics.

With illustrations and reference photos of over 130 wild edible and medicinal plants!

This is not just a children's book. This book is beautiful. It is not written down to children, it elevates them. Everyone will learn something in this stunningly illustrated book. The book also includes photos of over 130 plants and a "foraging pledge". The foraging pledge is a unique way to encourage safety and ethical behavior without being too heavy-handed. Love it!I don't have small children but after buying my first copy, I bought 2 more to have on hand for gifts. This is a perfect all age gift and great to add to your daily walk with your furry companion. At 50+ years old, I have enjoyed learning several new things from this book.

    I was so excited to add another book from Alicia Bayer to my home library. I now have A Is For Acorns right next to Poems from Under a Toadstool. This is such a fun book to read, and it's just the perfect length if you have little ones who can't sit still for long. The illustrations are so well done and grab your attention. And I love the "extras" in the back - pictures of plants to forage and even a page to take notes. Well done!

    What a fun foraging book! My six year old told me to give it a 10 out of 10. As we read it together she turned the fun rhymes into songs. We have many of these plants in our own back yard so it was exciting to see them in the book. As a parent, I especially loved that the book includes a kids foraging pledge to teach kids to be safe and responsible foragers.
    Highly recommend and this book would make a great gift, too!
