I like how the author has a “ Peek into the Womb’ chapter that breaks down what’s happening with the baby and mom each week of the pregnancy. Also the New Dad Parenting Hacks is a priceless addition to this guide!
Starting from pregnancy to post-partum, this book has it all
It cover all of the physical, mental and emotional wear and tear on a mother the baby and the father in that order. It makes you aware of everything involved and holds nothing back, including a chapter on sex.
Read this book, gift this book, add it to you library. An audio version would be great.

The guide includes a step-by-step approach to prenatal visits, emphasizes self-care for fathers, and incorporates a week-by-week timeline of the baby's development. The exploration of "Dad Brain" adds a unique and valuable perspective, shedding light on the physiological and psychological changes that fatherhood can bring. This inclusion contributes to a holistic understanding of the transformative journey ahead, helping fathers anticipate and embrace the changes in both body and mind.
pages. To my surprise and delight, the information was thorough and treated
fatherhood with the seriousness it warrants. It was not simply filled with the same old
advice about putting out the trash when mom is too big to do it herself or helping with
daily chores around the house and a wagging finger telling dad he will have to make
sacrifices like curtailing nights out with the lads. It genuinely addressed the pressing
concerns a new dad might have.
My son was equally pleased with the gift. While we both admired the depth and
quality of the book, different sections caught our attention. I was particularly
impressed with the discussions on how parental leave can affect the mother's health
and how the father’s presence after birth can prolong breastfeeding and mitigate
postpartum depression in some cases. And that’s understandable, though it never
occurred to me before. On the other hand, my son was drawn to the
comprehensive week-by-week breakdown of fetal development and the enlightening
insights on his rights in the workforce. The comprehensive piece on finance and
even making a will caught his attention.
I'm so glad I found it. I highly recommend it to all dads in waiting or to anyone
connected to them. It makes an excellent gift.
As a man on the cusp of fatherhood, "The First-Time Dad's Roadmap to Pregnancy and Parenthood" was informative, reassuring, and a breath of fresh air. It wasn't the typical light-hearted dad book filled with dude lingo and jokes. Instead, it tackled fatherhood with the gravity and significance it deserves. I sincerely appreciated its emphasis on fathers' critical role in a child's overall well-being – from emotional to cognitive aspects. The discussions on masculinity and fatherhood were thought-provoking, making me reflect on my own beliefs and values.
The segment on the benefits of paternal leave was enlightening. I hadn't fully grasped the profound impact it could have not only on father-child bonding but also on the well-being of the mother. Learning about the Aka tribe and their egalitarian approach to parenting further broadened my perspective, challenging prevailing cultural norms about fatherhood.
The comprehensive week-by-week breakdown of foetal development was educational, and I felt more connected to the process. The author provided one simple chart, which was both comprehensive and concise, (and not a fruit or vegetable in sight) for the whole 9-month development. While the book does share some elements with guides meant for mothers, it is genuinely tailored to address fathers' unique concerns, questions, and experiences. This guide treats the soon-to-be dad as an integral part of the journey with genuine queries and apprehensions. I'd highly recommend this to all new dads seeking an insightful and serious take on their upcoming role.
The guide to what is going on through the pregnancy week by week is particularly helpful.
I enjoyed reading this and, even though I already have been through the process with my own children, there were some tips and pointers in the book which I wish I had known in advance of our first child, and which would certainly have made a difference way back then.
A great guide overall, and an enjoyable read and reference book which you can keep dipping into along the way.
