Purchase options and add-ons
Unlock the Healing Powers of a Meat-Based Diet.
Discover a Revolutionary Approach to Health and Wellness That Aligns With Our Primal, Evolutionary Roots.
Meat has held a special place in the human diet for millions of years. The first major evolutionary change in the human diet was the incorporation of meat and marrow from large animals, which occurred about 2.6 million years ago.
The diet of the earliest hominins (pre-humans) was similar to the diet of modern chimpanzees: omnivorous, including large quantities of fruit, leaves, nuts, seeds, flowers, bark, and insects.
About 2.6 million years ago, a remarkable expansion in the human diet started to occur; some hominins began incorporating meat and marrow from small to very large animals into their diet, leading to remarkable changes in cognition, brain mass and function, body composition, anatomy, and physiology.
The Carnivore Fix explores the multifaceted benefits of the carnivore diet and showcases how and why humans are anatomically and physiologically designed to be primarily meat-eaters.
If you're looking for a complete diet guide that tells you exactly how to restore health and vitality to your body in a natural and non-invasive way, while still enjoying delicious food, this book is for you.

What an eye-opening moment as I must admit that in my forties, I didn't know there was a diet called the carnivore diet! (And no, I haven't been living under a rock.)
This book is an excellent guide for someone who wants to start and maintain the diet and also it is a very interesting read for learning more about meat and other animal-based products, such as seafood, eggs and dairy and the effects they have on a body.
I was very impressed as I read more of the book as one can see that there is thorough research that went into this book. The hows and the whys are all here and one of the most impressive, the writer even included healthy and delicious recipes. The writer doesn't force people or tell them to follow the diet, he writes about the diet and the research and the overview of the carnivore diet, which the use then has to form informed opinions and well-founded decisions regarding the journey and the diet.
I didn't know that there could be a diet that excluded all plant foods, hence this book was very interesting for me to read, and I enjoyed it and I learnt so much. There are frequently asked questions that the writer answers for those who would want to know certain things about the diet, like how often to eat on the Carnivore diet, meal frequencies. The negative symptoms that one may experience, and the writer goes on the issue of the importance of hydration as well while on the diet.
Like any new lifestyle one embarks on, there are benefits and drawbacks and the writer has elaborated on that as well. The book also goes a little deeper on "WHY PLANTS ARE NOT YOUR FRIEND." And all I can say about that is this book is a must read - for enlightment as well!
The book also offers a food list, so no need to be googling what to eat and what to prepare, it is all in the book. Shopping list, meal ideas are also included.
As I read this book kept impressing me and surprising me as the writer also has a section dedicated to eating out and travelling on the carnivore diet so that a person can stay on track white travelling. Wow, isn't that impressive? There is a lot of planning and research for that but the writer guides the reader in a good way. The book also dwells on mistakes to avoid when starting the carnivore diet.
I can write so much about this book, but it's for everyone to read for themselves, but I recommend it. It may trigger a person to think about their diet and start this lifestyle, or it may interest you to read more on issues in the book, like I was triggered into researching more about red meat and I read that it is superior to white meat.
WORTH A READ!
I learned that vegetables and fruits may not be as healthy as we’ve been lead to believe. Eating mostly red meats, especially organ meat, such as liver is key in this meat based diet, especially organ meat such as liver and bone broth. This is to prevent inflammatory properties found in plant based food such as vegetables and beans.
This guide contains shopping lists and lists of the best products to buy for the carnivore diet. It lists specific types and cuts of meat are best. This is very helpful for people who want to start and stay on this plan.
It also gives meal plans and ways to combine the food for optimum benefits. It even gives tips of what to order when eating in restaurants and while travelling. This section was really fun and anyone could enjoy this type of meal planning.
The book is well-structured and easy to follow, even for someone like me, who was entirely new to the concept. What impressed me the most was the comprehensive approach it takes. It not only explains the historical and biological aspects but also delves into practical aspects, offering a step-by-step guide to adopting a carnivore diet.
I appreciated how the author emphasized the natural and non-invasive way this diet can restore health and vitality. The writing style is engaging, and the scientific explanations are made accessible for beginners.
After reading "The Carnivore Fix," I feel more informed and confident about exploring a meat-based diet. It's a fantastic resource for anyone seeking a natural path to better health and performance. Four stars!

The Carnivore Fix: A Comprehensive Guide to a Nose-to-Tail Meat-Based Diet is essentially a well-researched guide to a carbohydrate-free ketogenic diet, which mimics the metabolism of fasting. Shaw presents a balanced view of the pros and cons of an entirely meat, and a vegan diet, nicely noting the differences in vitamin C and B12 in both approaches to eating. Without this considered view of benefits and disbenefits, I would have returned the book to the shelf. I was also pleased to see a bibliography at the end of the book, giving credence to Shaw’s thesis.
The book has two styles, a reference book approach to facts and data you can dip in and out of, and handy shopping and cooking tips. This second half is not quite a cookbook (some more detailed instructions or perhaps some pictures would help). My favourite part was the section about herbs and spices as part of a carnivore diet, which allowed me to understand Shaw’s point of view. He also presents some fascinating history of meat-based diets and answers to forty-one frequently asked questions. On balance, this well-structured, informative book presents Shaw’s central argument satisfactorily while also championing exercise, health and wellness.
Has Shaw convinced me to re-evaluate my relationship with food? The simple answer is no. Just as meat-eaters always ask vegans how they can live without bacon, the prospect of 100% veggie-free food (I’m thinking onions, chocolate, alcohol) is too awful to contemplate. At least Shaw recommends followers of his diet, “Season the meat with your preferred seasonings such as salt, pepper, garlic powder, or any herbs and spices of your choice”. This is not an anti-vegan book; it’s just a book that presents an alternate view, so no gripes from me.
