    Given the price point for this keyboard (under $30) I did not have high expectations for this keyboard. The pastel colors seems very 1990s maybe Miami or Californian. It's a pretty solid keyboard - although all plastic - and it has a very satisfying feel typing on the linear red switches. I like that the keyboard does not have a permanent cable - there is a USB-C port. Typing on it more and more - I discovered I liked typing on it more and more.

    The only negative I can think about this keyboard is that the keycaps are pretty low quality even though they are PBT instead of the cheaper ABS. Luckily you can swap out the keycaps - that would make the feeling of this keyboard much more premium. I'm not sure why they used these cheaper keycaps as I have another Surmen keyboard and the plastic feels much better. I suspect it's to keep the cost low. Includes keycap puller.

    If you need a cheap keyboard that is great to type on - like the feel of mechanical keyboards or just need a light intro to mechanical keyboards - this is perfect. Customize the keyboard and even the cable to elevate it. At this price point, you cannot go wrong. I highly recommend this keyboard. I give it 5 stars despite the cheap feeling keycaps.

    This is a pretty good compact keyboard, especially for the price. It’s decently ergonomic, and it doesn’t take very much pressing at all — a very light touch — to get the keys to register. I have typing injuries, and this doesn’t set them off so much. I wouldn’t call it “quiet,” though, as it’s the same or louder than my old mechanical keyboard. Pretty clicky.

    I like that the backlight feature can be easily turned on or off, and that it came with a keycap remover, as I usually use a Dvorak layout, so it’s nice to be able to switch out the keys. The function key for the backlight (normally “P”) seems to stay in the same place across different keyboard layouts though, so, if moving the caps, you would have to know where the “P” key is on a normal QWERTY layout, to be able to change the settings later.

    I plan to customize this keyboard later on with new keycaps but as far as it goes in its current state, I think it's pretty nice. I don't know about the claim of it being "quiet", but it isn't really any noisier than the plastic keyed membrane keyboard I was using before. I enjoy the different lighting features and the option to have the keys light up and fade out after being pressed. The colors are nice and after several days of use, I'm not finding anything remarkable as far as issues go. It's a perfect basic keyboard at a perfectly basic price (as far as mechanical keyboards go).

    If you're a keyboard snob, you might be able to find fault in it. I'm just somebody who spends a lot of the day typing and types very quickly. So while I got this so that I would have the option of switching in some kawaii keycaps later, the important thing to me is that it works, it works well, and it feels comfortable to use. I'd say it hits all of those aspects for me.

    I have two MageGee TKL boards.

    One clicky from 2020, this one Linear.

    Both connect by USB-C right in the board itself, so I can swap on the fly without rerouting cords.

    I like heavy/clicks keys for gaming, and soft/linear keys for school typing.

    However, the linear board gives me all the same comfort for gaming but in silence if my fiance is asleep, reading or watching something behind me. :)

    If either board bit the dust - I'd replace it through MageGee again. :)

    The other board came with a key puller & a couple replacement keys, making it very easy to take apart and clean if needed.

    Read the book! It tells you all the short cuts and how to use your different lighting settings. :)
