This book isn’t just for persons that have experienced trauma you can also get a copy to help understand and better assist someone who has gone through it. It helps to heal trauma, reduce stress and to boost your overall wellness. The steps are easy to follow it also emphasize on mindfulness and body awareness which I think is a refreshing approach to mental health and wellbeing.

As a comprehensive guide to navigating trauma and how your body may respond and how this can be managed, worked through and come out in a better space then before. The author compares trauma to a forest in which you can become lost and this shows you how to master areas that give you a way through that forest. One line in the introduction spoke to me. It says, “remember that healing is not a linear process” and is “an opportunity to engage with your own story in a way that respects your past experiences but also opens up a canvas for new possibilities.” This book truly is a road map!

Ms. Parsons write about the science and therapy behind somatic therapy AND how to apply it them into your life, including case studies and a step by step process. This guide is meant for everyone, from those who know nothing about somatic therapy to those who already implement some aspects into their lives, it can always teach you something new. I loved how compact the book was…so I didn’t have to haul out thousands and thousands of pages to read and learn.

The bread and butter of this guide is the tools and techniques to somatic therapy included. She has listed a technique then went on to break it down to objectives, difficulty level, detailed descriptions, key focus points, benefits, possible variations and a frequency recommended!

Definitely a must read if you are looking for or know someone who is looking for a way to heal their mind body and soul!
