About the Author

For nearly five decades, John Roger Barrie has studied with numerous spiritual teachers and has practiced a variety of spiritual disciplines. He is an authorized lay instructor in the respected, interfaith-oriented Ramakrishna-Vedanta tradition. His interreligious approach incorporates teachings and practices from several spiritual paths, including the rich mystical traditions of his native Christianity. He has additionally served since 2001 as the longtime literary executor of influential author/historian/philosopher Gerald Heard (1889-1971). In 2023, he published an acclaimed spiritual novel, Dialogues With the Lord of Time. In 2024, he published an insightful collection of writings, The Deepest Silence and Other Essays on Contemporary Spirituality. For nearly five decades, John Roger Barrie has studied with numerous spiritual teachers and practiced many different spiritual paths. He is an authorized lay instructor in the respected, interfaith-oriented Ramakrishna–Vedanta tradition. His interreligious approach incorporates teachings and practices from several religious traditions, including his native Christianity.

He has served since 2001 as literary executor of influential author, historian, and philosopher Gerald Heard (1889–1971). He has overseen reissues of 18 classic Gerald Heard titles.

Barrie's first spiritual article appeared in 1981. In 2023, he published his acclaimed spiritual novel, "Dialogues With the Lord of Time." In 2024, he published two books: (1) a collection of wide-ranging writings, "The Deepest Silence and Other Essays on Contemporary Spirituality," and (2) his 1974 spiritual autobiography, "First Awakening: A Spiritual Memoir."
