I don't buy a lot of suitcases. The ones that I do buy, I expect them to last for a long time.

Eventually, though, suitcases wear out. They break. Pieces fall off. Corners get worn away. They have to be replaced. Which is the point at which I take my old suitcases and then force them on one of my three sons. They are always appreciative of this generosity I so openly display.

However, this time around, my youngest son specifically asked for a new suitcase. For Christmas, no less. I didn't like the idea of him having a suitcase that didn't require duct tape to hold together, but felt in the Christmas spirit.

I did a little research on various suitcases and quickly realized that my son was going to want a duffel type of suitcase with wheels. At 14, he's big enough to carry his own suitcase, but, as he said, why carry it when he doesn't have to? Apparently my amusement didn't mean that much this time around.

I also wanted a suitcase that could hold a lot of stuff. Neither I nor my kids pack a lot of stuff when we go on vacation, but we're often filled to bursting with souvenirs and clothing we'll never wear when we're not on vacation and other stuff. We need a big suitcase on occasion. However, with the airlines strictly enforcing the 50 pound rule, I also needed a suitcase that held a lot, but didn't weigh a lot. That quickly ruled out a lot of the larger hard-sided suitcases.

After looking around for a while, I found this baby. It was, well, not love because it's a suitcase and not an iPad or whatnot, but respect, maybe. I'd had eBags before and they held up well to the abuse I put them through, so I felt good about its provenance. When the bag arrived, I quickly saw that eBags had come through again.

    This is a well-made suitcase.

Got this bag for a trip to Hawaii and it was perfect size and weight. This duffel can take an absurd load where you'll go past the 50 lb check in limit before you stuff it full depending on your packing of course. This bag offers many compartments where you can split the compartment or roll up the center flap to create one big space if you're transporting something bulky. You can also use the velcro shelves if you want to reserve the bottom bunk for shoes.Using packing cubes creates even more options to organize. I liked the split design so we could just get a particular item from the top or bottom compartment without having to dig into a huge duffel for that one specific thing you're looking for. There's a lot of space and room for you to customize how you want to subdivide your gear. The material is a good sturdy polyester and there's a good video for this on ebag's site that shows you the configuration options and of course the lifetime warranty if you need it. The handle is nice and sturdy and overall the bag is built to survive. Wheels glide smoothly and I had few problems getting the bag to stand on its own. The bottom stand also doubles as a lifting handle when sideways.

looking for a very large bag for extended trips of over a week that the wife and I have deserved for so long now. The desire was soft sided and wheeled. I'm against wheeled sports bags, but lugging 49.9 pounds on a shoulder through the craziness of Dallas airport is out of the question.
This bag caught my eye for several reasons other than the wild color. the drop bottom allows the bag to be opened as a book and access to all my stuff at once without digging. they also have a reputation for using quality gear like YKK zippers (if you have to ask, never mind).

The bag came faster than the stated time and is beautiful. Every stich seems to be done carefully, and obvious attention to worn-out baggage allowed them the preemptive strike of protecting the soon to be abused areas like corners and the bottom. Internally a well designed layout allows for a well planned distribution of gear that stays put. The bright orange interior helps with finding things in dimly lit rooms, and the dividers are all quality in both materials and construction. The externals include well thought out handles, small pockets, and straps. Bright green means I can see my bag a mile away among the million black bags with a piece of red yarn on the handle. Finally, and this is BIG for me, an adjustable handle for pulling is a god-send. No more hitting the heels as most bags do (and anyone 6 foot or taller will tell you is more than annoying!)
I toyed with a 4star rating for the cost, but the quality and ergonomics of this case cannot be denied. 5 stars! It IS worth the price tag.

After 1 flight - our honeymoon, the seams are pulling apart on the outside. Other than that the bag is fantastic. I've never seen my wife pack what usually would be 3 roller bags full of "necessities" into one bag. We might have to use the warranty to get the bag replaced. We have the Weekender as well and that one gets 5 stars!

I like many features about this bag, but I found it very heavy which means one can't pack as much for a flight due to the flight weight constrictions. The bag is well organized with many compartments, but it seems like a lighter weight more simple bag is better when travelling by plane.
