Eventually, though, suitcases wear out. They break. Pieces fall off. Corners get worn away. They have to be replaced. Which is the point at which I take my old suitcases and then force them on one of my three sons. They are always appreciative of this generosity I so openly display.
However, this time around, my youngest son specifically asked for a new suitcase. For Christmas, no less. I didn't like the idea of him having a suitcase that didn't require duct tape to hold together, but felt in the Christmas spirit.
I did a little research on various suitcases and quickly realized that my son was going to want a duffel type of suitcase with wheels. At 14, he's big enough to carry his own suitcase, but, as he said, why carry it when he doesn't have to? Apparently my amusement didn't mean that much this time around.
I also wanted a suitcase that could hold a lot of stuff. Neither I nor my kids pack a lot of stuff when we go on vacation, but we're often filled to bursting with souvenirs and clothing we'll never wear when we're not on vacation and other stuff. We need a big suitcase on occasion. However, with the airlines strictly enforcing the 50 pound rule, I also needed a suitcase that held a lot, but didn't weigh a lot. That quickly ruled out a lot of the larger hard-sided suitcases.
After looking around for a while, I found this baby. It was, well, not love because it's a suitcase and not an iPad or whatnot, but respect, maybe. I'd had eBags before and they held up well to the abuse I put them through, so I felt good about its provenance. When the bag arrived, I quickly saw that eBags had come through again.
This is a well-made suitcase.Read more ›
This bag caught my eye for several reasons other than the wild color. the drop bottom allows the bag to be opened as a book and access to all my stuff at once without digging. they also have a reputation for using quality gear like YKK zippers (if you have to ask, never mind).
The bag came faster than the stated time and is beautiful. Every stich seems to be done carefully, and obvious attention to worn-out baggage allowed them the preemptive strike of protecting the soon to be abused areas like corners and the bottom. Internally a well designed layout allows for a well planned distribution of gear that stays put. The bright orange interior helps with finding things in dimly lit rooms, and the dividers are all quality in both materials and construction. The externals include well thought out handles, small pockets, and straps. Bright green means I can see my bag a mile away among the million black bags with a piece of red yarn on the handle. Finally, and this is BIG for me, an adjustable handle for pulling is a god-send. No more hitting the heels as most bags do (and anyone 6 foot or taller will tell you is more than annoying!)
I toyed with a 4star rating for the cost, but the quality and ergonomics of this case cannot be denied. 5 stars! It IS worth the price tag.

I don't know yet, as my trip isn't until a few more months. I see no reason why this won't work just fine. It seems to be made well. I'll get back to you with my review.Published 3 months ago by irish9085
