If you've ever been in a hotel room rummaging around your bag, trying to find that last pair of socks you KNOW you packed, then you need packing cubes.
I was skeptical. I had no clue what I would use them for. Now I want 2-3 more sets.
For a normal week-long work trip:
- I usually use the large cube for my daily outfits. As others mention, it is really huge and difficult to use all of the space it offers.
- I use the medium size cubes for workout outfits: tops, leggings, sports bras, socks, and all my workout accessories.
- I use the small cube for underwear, camis, and bras.
Then when I get to my destination, unpacking is so much less stressful. I know exactly where everything "lives" inside my bag, so if I immediately need to change for a business dinner, I don't have to go digging. I usually empty out the large size cube and that cube becomes my "dirty clothes" cube. My medium cube becomes my "clothes I packed but didn't wear". Small cube comes home with accessories like belts, armband for workouts, etc.
I can't really explain it, but I feel 10 times more organized and less stress with my packing cubes. I'd highly recommend. I wish I hadn't picked orange though, because it reminds me of a construction zone.

I am usually the type that starts off with a nicely packed suitcase, but when I get to each hotel (if on a touring vacation), I make such a mess of my suitcase, pulling everything out trying to find that one specific thing, that I thought packing cubes would be the answer. I was also sold on the concept when I went to a local travel show and saw a seminar about using them. So far, I have used these on a long-weekend trip and they worked out great -- no more messy suitcase jumble! I almost find the large one a little too large, but it worked for larger items like jeans or light sweaters. Another thing I like about this brand is that I can add to the collection with different sizes and colors if need be. I got the grey color as it is understated, yet differentiates from the black interior of my suitcase.
For travel lovers who are 'on the road' for weeks at a time these are incredibly handy. We backpacked around Europe for 2 months and I can't imagine living out of a backpack without these. With a set system you will always know where your clothes/items are. No more digging through a backpack or suitcase and tearing up all your clothes.

The luggage I am basing my recommendations-on are standard cabin size roll-on bags of 55cm the size typically allowed as hand luggage by almost all airlines. I use a Samsonite B-Lite 55cm x 38cm x 20cm 2-wheel roll-on bag (in my opinion the best size/weight/quality combination for hand luggage - 4 wheel bags have less internal space, every inch counts, hard cases weigh more). I'm a man so my recommendations are based on men's clothes.....
LARGE eBags Cube - Fit my bag perfectly I just can't find a use for them.
In reality I think the large cube is OK for dresses / larger items of clothing. As a man I have little use for this so don't use the large bag though It fits perfectly in the 55cm suitcase its dimensions are the same as the internal dimensions of the bag. I don't recommend the large size unless you are packing large flat items. If this size works for you, you could fit maybe three or four of these on top of each other in a hand-luggage case - though it would be full at this point.
MEDIUM bag - the perfect bag for clothes / shirts / t-shirts etc.
I can fold 5 (17inch collar) shirts into the medium cube - they are a perfect fit. The cubes length is the same as the width of my case, I can pack a second medium cube with casual-wear for a week a few t-shirts/and a pair of jeans. This is a fantastic size for normal clothing. Two of these fit perfectly on-top of each other in my roll-on bag filling just over half the bag.
SMALL bag - perfect for a week's worth of smalls
A week's worth of socks/underwear fit into one of these. I use a second to hold electrical/work items. The two small bags now fill 3/4 of the remaining space in my case, leaving just enough room for a separate, clear liquids/toiletries bag of the regulation size.
In SUMMARY - Cubes needed for a standard roll-one hand-luggage bag.
2 x Medium - for clothes
2 x Small - for socks/underwear / electrical/other items
Leaves enough room for a toiletry bag and to fold a jacket on-tip before closing your bag and heading for the airport.
This means to get the perfect hand-luggage arrangement you either need to buy 2 of these eBags 3 piece sets (and discard the large bag), or a pack of medium and a pack of small which would give you a spare bag of each size. (which is what I ended-up doing).
PS - Your Laptop. You can take this in a separate laptop bag to free-up space in your case. Buy the type that easily slide onto the handles of your roll-on bag (Better ones have loops/tubes for this) - then you don't have to carry it - it just sits on your bag - you can't lose it or drop it. ( I use a Samsonite network 2 bag as it is little-more than a sleeve with handles so is small and light-weight and never gets refused by airlines as too big)
PS shoes - wear them don't carry them.
Hope this helps!
Now we are due to go away again soon so he asked me to get him a yellow set. They are a lovely colour, well made, surprising strong and despite my first thoughts on their size, (don't look like they hold an awful lot), 2 sets of these completely fill my large suitcase and can hold much more than you think.
The different colours means everyone in the family can have their own and it's super easy when travelling as a family to locate each others things
No more struggling trying to find things
No more time wasted unpacking and organising your stuff, just place these from suitcase to drawer :)
No more creased clothes
I would highly recommend these to anybody
the small can fit underwear like briefs or socks as they are not teeny tiny.
the medium i liked for tops or nightwear the large are huge. you can put a jacket in the large. bulky jumpers or jeans. for maximum flexibility buy two sets as you will have enough cubes for ant trip short or long.
i really stuffed mine and the zips are really the best. the depth of the cubes is more than you think so pack the edges as to get maximum capacity.
when i was finished my holiday i packed the cubes on the return by colour so i could just unpack the cubes and put the contents in the washing machine.
now i am home i am going to store winter bedding in the summer or summer bedding in the winter as the cubes will take up less space than just chucking in an ottoman for storage. there really is nothing not to like about these packing cubes
