I do have a laser drilled measuring gauge that I use often, but there are times when a regular ruler will work better. For one, drawing straight lines is easier with these rulers as they are not the thin steel of the laser drilled measuring gauge. They are quite a bit thicker than that, making it good as a straight edge. However, I do wish that they were made from some springier steel. The 12" ruler came a bit bowed. I was able to carefully bend the ruler to remove most of the bow. Being made of springier steel would have made this a moot point.
As far as accuracy goes, compared with my laser drilled gauge, the markings matched up perfectly. The markings are just not printed on, they are recessed a bit into the metal, so they will not rub off over time. The zero point is the bottom edge of the rulers. That comes in handy at times, however, I hope that these are durable enough that those corners will not get dinged up.
The inch to mm conversions on the back of the rules are a nice touch. Though, it would be nice to put decimal equivalents for common imperial sizes, instead of some of those conversions. As one other reviewer pointed out, there is a spelling error on the back of the 12" ruler. It certainly doesn't affect the use of that ruler.
The rulers do have holes in the curved end. Those, fortunately, are large enough that they hang nicely from a hook on my peg board.
I have not received any type of discount on these. Even if I had, it would not have affected my review.
This is why I decided to order a ruler for my desk.
When I started looking at rulers, there were the usual wooden ones (downside: splinters, the metal edging (if it has one) is usually sharp, and eventually falls off), and the usual plastic ones (downside: they break easily, and the raised measurement tick marks and numbers are usually not very precise, the paint wears off the raised numbers and tick marks making it difficult to read, etc., in my experience).
Then up popped this lovely set! Not only none of the downsides of the cheap wooden ones and plastic ones, but two for the price of one!
Plus, the markings are *very* clear and easy to read, with metric on one side and imperial on the other - *and* - bonus!...a conversion table on the back!
Now I have a ruler at my desk, and another to use in other parts of the house in which I may need to measure something (the kitchen... the laundry room... the bedroom...).
This is a seriously great set, and will probably be the last rules you ever need to buy (at least for yourself, they'd make a great gift for a student)!
I like that this came as a set of two -- a 6-inch and a 12-inch. Honestly, I will probably use the 6-inch ruler more often than the larger one -- but it's nice to have both. And of course, laid out in a line, I get 18 inches.
The metal seems quite sturdy -- doesn't appear that it will bend/warp easily. The markings are easy to read. The rulers came in a plastic sleeve (one for each ruler) which I think will help to keep the markings from wearing off. Assuming I remember to put the ruler back in the sleeve when I am done, LOL.
I am happy with my purchase.
The 12" ruler stays at my desk. I draw a lot of diagrams for work and this thing comes in handy. I didn't think I would like the small hole at the end but it actually serves nicely as a way for me to hook it onto the wall. I always know where it is and it doesn't get lost in some drawer somewhere.

This allows fast and accurate measurement found on more expensive brand names. In the days of Google, conversion tables are of limited use.
I had to file quarter of a mm off the end to make the measurements accurate as well.
I have bought several over the years - My problem is the children loosing them at school rather than any failure of the product itself !!!
and also never could find a straight edge to draw a line ususally making do with the edge of a box or something.
Finally I decided to get these, they are so useful just to have at hand !
