This item works out of the box, however, you must consider the application in which it is going to be used. I purchased this item to use with my Motorola Xoom and connect to the HDMI port of my HD TV, it worked perfectly. However after a couple of uses it broke under the weight of the HDMI cable and kind of loosened the mini-HDMI port on my Xoom. So if your going to use it in a light application or a static setup, it should be fine. For movement (games) and a large HDMI cable don't do it. The solution I found was a swivel adapter available at Radio Shack for ten bucks. The swivel allows the heavier cable to sit at an angle and not put strain on the plug at the contact point. Hope this helps. Going for the cheaper can turn out to be more expensive.

Well I purchased this on July 30th. I received it on august 5th. Last night when I went to unplug it from my tablet it came apart in two pieces. So it lasted a total of a week. I have contacted the seller to see if they stand behind their product. Also too a picture of it to send them as well. Buy a full cable if you need HDMI to HDMI micro connections.

I plugged this in and used it with my tablet to display on HDTV and it worked the 1st time, although it cut out briefly and I had to re-plug it. That was the only time it worked. I could never get it to work again. Bought another, better one from Radio Shack and it works reliably. I guess you can't expect a lot for a buck.

This connector worked for about 10 minutes before losing the connection.
Without being moved or even touched, screen fills with white noise and sound goes dead as the connector intermittently loses contact. Too cheap to be worth returning, it goes to the trash.
For $10 at Radio Shack got a connector that works.

In order to get the image on the screen where the HDMI cable is plugged in, I had to keep my hand pulling up the connector on the tablet side. Otherwise it simply doesnt work because of the the weight of the HDMI cable and its plug bends the tiny connector on the tablet side.

Get a cable instead, not this adaptor.

I purchased this adapter because it listed the BlackBerry Playbook specifically as one of the devices it would work on. Well I have tried it on both of my Playbooks, and the Samsung HDTV will not recognize it when plugged into the HDMI cable. It will not allow the HDMI cable to be completely inserted - leaving about 1/8" of the male plug hanging out...??? So for me, it was no help......

I was pleased the first time I used it when I was just seeing if it worked. Worked fine, but broke the second time I used it right when I was about to do a presentation. I set my tablet down and the connect just popped off. Get what you pay for.

I bought this adapter so I could play my Acer A500 Iconia tablet through my TCL 40" TV (Amazon). I connected a 2' HDMI cable to the TV, connected it to the adapter, and then to my tablet. I leave the cable connected and just push it under the TV when not using it with the tablet. My TV does not have the internet apps, but by using the tablet I have all the features, including my AMAZON PRIME streaming video. So, in effect, I am adding internet apps to my TV by using the adapter and my tablet. SIMPLE.....
