Top customer reviews
As for everything else, i put this tablet through some SERIOUS paces and it came through with flying colors. I have owned many tablets, many from Hong Kong, name brand units like Archos, Viewsonic, & Dell and other eastern name brands with most people have never even heard of. For the price, this tablet beats most competition, hands-down.
Whoever designed this tablet got the "right" configuration. When i say this, i mean they put things like USB, power, TF slot, SIM, and HDMI on the "side" rather than on the bottom (a common habit among Asian tablet makers) so it's not uncomfortable to use this unit even when it's charging.
I will say this, i had some "modified" firmware installed on the tablet in order to harness ALL of it's gifts. With this, i was allowed a few gems that most people didn't get like Android Market. I sincerely hope they will develop Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) for this unit because it's even more impressive than 2.2
Now, no review is really complete without a little complaining and here is mine: In a semi-loud room (we're talking TV and/or kids being loud) the tablet almost can't be heard. But this is a common problem among MANY tablets because of the size of the speakers...they're just too small to get any really impressive sound. HOWEVER, one could buy blue-tooth loudspeakers and get a wireless relief from this problem. I read the initial firmware had some bugs in it, like the wireless cutting off but i never experienced the problem because i upgraded it as soon as i got it.
I field-tested this unit by logging into my Windows 7 machine and transferring files with absolute EASE (Thanks in part to the app called "File Expert" on Android market and very free). I streamed music & videos between my tablet to Windows 7 and my XBOX 360 with a little app called "Double-Twist Air Sync", it's a GREAT alternative to i Tunes. Another little gem was the "blinking" LED to let someone know that the unit was still on, that one was a great extra for me because i tend to just set something down and leave it running for hours.
Another good thing about this tablet was the designers were SMART enough to give it a rubber-like back side where it could be easier to hold on to. Too many tablet builders create "smooth" backed tablets and the result is....they slip, fall, and turn into an expensive (but broken) door-stop.
Now, i won't waste a lot of people's time by going into deep tech-slang because it just makes most people irate when others do but this is one seriously well-made tablet. I played lots of games on it and it handled the graphics like a champ.
Frugal buyer who want the most bang for their buck....GET THIS TABLET. For what it is, the Elocity A7 is the best pad for the money.
