TLDR version: Not a permanent solution for me. Did not like them much. Worked in a pinch. Would not repeat purchase.
I should not have expected great performance for the cost of this product, but I needed a replacement for my gaming headset on a tight budget at the time I ordered them. The sound quality was about average - not as good as what I had (or what I prefer for my purposes, for that matter, though it worked for me during a period my wallet was feeling the pinch).
The voice input was what really took me down though. It makes it tough to coordinate with your fellow gamers when your voice is constantly "muffled" to them no matter how you angle your headset. Again, not as good as what I had, or as good as I require for a long-term solution.
The closest I got to a "workable" arrangement with these was to borrow an ancient speaker set from one of my sons' computers to plug into the outgoing sound port while the microphone plug for THIS device was still connected. Doing this, I was able to use a hotkey to mute the sound on my game long enough to pick up the headset and speak directly into the microphone nub, set it back down, and unmute the game sounds. Not exactly elegant or convenient, and I got grief from my boy for messing with HIS machine. lol. Until I reminded him that I technically own it and nearly everything else in this house... y'know.
I really hate to blame something so ridiculous on sub-par PVP performance - it's not like I'm some gaming god or anything - but my guildmates knew something was wrong beyond the usual system latency and I am gratified they didn't razz me about it too hard. Our win to loss ratio suffered every time we were on the voice software and I had to say *anything* since I'm used to focusing on a healing rotation...
So. If you have the luxury of time to clarify any statements you make through one of these to whoever is listening on the other side, then this product might just work out for you. I don't regret the purchase due to the circumstances - but I won't be repeating it either. The next headset I buy will be as much like my old one that has been discontinued as I can manage for quality and utility. It just... isn't worth it to nickle and dime myself now that I can actually afford something GREAT again. :)
