Also this natively interfaces with Google Earth, where you take it with you hike/biking and then plug it into your Windows computer, start Google Earth and then with a simple command it shows you extactly where you have been as a route or point of interest (with 3D in Google Earth this can be very interesting). The last picture above is a Google Earth satellite topography with a hike automatically imported from the Garmin eTrek Legend.

Rugged it has taken some hits and kept on ticking (showing my age). It has been dropped many times
Water proof. Never dropped it in water thank god because it would sink no floating guarantee. but it's been rained on and had drinks spilled on it.
Fits easy in your hand and it's lanyard fits over your head making it hard to drop or lose overboard.
Cost is very reasonable. I got a great deal on both of mine.
Its slow to sync up with the satellites sometimes.
Battery life is not quite as good as they say if you use the back light. To be expected.
You have to have a special interface to hook it to your computer and if you have a newer computer you have to have a serial to USB adapter.
Difficult to input locations by hand.
All adapters are awkward to attach. Can slip off easy. Kind of a necessary evil for waterproofing.
