Eco bee Switch+ delivers smart lighting and Alexa in one seamless package. Ask it to turn the lights on or off, set a timer, read you the news or weather, play music or podcasts, and more (nothing else required). Forgot to turn the light off? Smart Off takes care of that for you when the room is empty. All this, one switch-that you can install yourself in about 45 minutes.

Right now, all it's good for is a motion light switch with a nightlight and a barely capable Alexa hub and HomeKit device.
It barely wakes up and then takes 3 or 4 tries for it to understand the command, meanwhile all my other echo devices are performing the actions because they overhear it from the other rooms!
There is no multi-room audio, no calling, no drop-in, no dimming, no 3-way switch capability, no hub recognition (where you can group lights to it and just say "Alexa lights on/off"), no temperature sensor integration to ecobee thermostats, no Wink or Stringify integration and practically no customization of the settings.
So, basically, you have a small form dot combined with a dumb lutron occupancy sensor switch for $100.
Originally in the beta rejection email, they said there would be other chances for testing. I think they did away with that and released an unfinished product as a paid second beta. Not cool.
The only reason I didn't choose the lowest rating is because the "potential" exists for all of these features except dimming and 3-way switch capability.
After working past the initial setup I was dumbfounded to find the device is not yet compatible with Ecobee's own thermostats as a remote sensor (this was 50% of my interest as the sensors drop in and out on the far side of my home). Their site says they should have this functionality by summer, but this seemed very half baked at release time.
This replaced a Z-Wave switch, so second step was attempting to set it up in SmartThings - their site has a howto which doesn't mesh with the smart things app I have (no Lights & Switches category in mine under adding a thing) - so another 40% down of my interest down the drain.
Finally setup Alexa - this is replacing an echo dot on our kitchen counter - this worked fine, is reasonably loud and works as expected.
Overall I'm giving this a generous 3 stars for now, I'll revisit it when they get the SmartThings & integration with their other products out the door, hopefully that'll be sooner than later?
1) the performance is slow. Nothing comparable to an amazon Alexa device.
2) the mic is poor. Half the time it would not recognize me or my kids, not for lack of yelling
3) probably one of the most annoying features is the switch cover is not flush with the wall and does not secure to the switch well. Which means you will be putting it back on anytime someone touches it
4) finally the WiFi connection is not stable. It lost connection several times and the last time would not reconnect to WiFi.
Now the good. Ecobee did respond very timely to my concerns above and offered to send a replacement but I am going to wait until version 2. Ecobee support is the best.
I bought the Smart light switch because it "works with SmartThings" and had Amazon Alexa build in. BUT the only function that works with SmartThings is the light switch ON/OFF function. The other functions like the motion sensor, night light, temperature sensor and light sensor are not available in the SmartThing interface. EcoBee is add some temperature features in the future but we do not know if they will be SmartThing aware.
The Switch + set up is also different as you do not set the switch up through the "Switches and Dimmers" menu, BUT instead you go through the Thermostat menus. This must be done AFTER you add the Switch + to the EcoBee App. And this is not openly documented.
Amazon Alexa is a great feature of the device. But here again the ability to configure Alexa is limited. You can not change the wake word, Pair the switch with a remote, change the sounds, or add the device to Multi room music group. I hope Ecobee address some of the omission soon.
Even the EcoBee feature are fairly limited and do not offer any flexibility other than On or Off. The light switch is NOT a dimmer. You cannot adjust the timing of how quickly or slowly to turn off the switch after there is no motion. There is no delay before or after sunrise or sunset. You can not ajust the brightness of the night light.
For now I will keep this Switch + but i will not buy any more until the SmartThings interface is more complete. To me it seems that EcoBee jumped the gun and released this too soon. They should have implemented more of the function before releasing the Switch +.
