I like that the game shows what a nice, balanced meal should look like (main dish, a veggie, a fruit, a beverage and a dessert). It is also fast paced enough for a preschooler.
Our son likes to practice folding the cloth game board when we are finished.
I recommend this to parents of preschoolers. I have looked at other eeBoo games, but they seem to be very similar to this one, so I'm not sure it would be necessary to buy more than one style.
Now, sometimes, it takes a little long to spin that last item you need. So, we made it that if you don't have an action 10 times in a row, then you get to choose one item from the "basket". He likes that, and counts his turn total aloud. It can be a real pain if they don't get a plate in the beginning, since you can't collect food without it.
A wonderful game, really. The cardboard pieces are beautifully illustrated and thick. Unless you bite it, I doubt these babies will get any damage while playing. Our spinner was stuck at first, but I pulled it a little and it spins great now. I do hold the spinner for him so he doesn't break it.
I would recommend if your child likes games. Helps teach taking turns, balanced meals, setting the table, and counting (if you play with my variant). The game goes by quick, which is nice since some games you can be right about the win and start over (here's me looking at you Chutes and Ladders).
Other games my son likes: uno moo, chutes and ladders, cars memory game, pop up pirate, abc go fish, and hi ho cherry-o. And, of course, Candyland.
The only suggestion I have is that you begin the game by giving everyone their plate right away, rather than waiting to "spin" for the plate. It's like waiting the roll a 6 in Parcheesi. We use the plate space on the spinner as a free choice spot. When the children were very young, we made the rule that each person could only get the ants once (causes you to put a piece back). As their attention spans improved, we followed the regular rules regarding the ants.
