Will this equipment work in Brazil with maps from Brazilian locations?

Yes, it will work anywhere in the world. If the maps are compatable with your unit, they will work too.

Garmin's Base Camp software is available as a free download from their website. You can use it to test any Garmin-format maps, including the free, open-source ones, before you buy the eTrex. I bought my Garmin from Amazon and was already getting used to the software and maps when my GPS arrived.

I don't think so because it will not even download maps in the US. There is a Garmin eTrex which will download maps but it costs a lot more than the eTrex20. The Garmin itself should work anywhere.

The Garmin eTrex 20 will work worldwide as it uses both United States and Russian navigation satellites. When I got the unit, until it fixed on the satillites to find my location in Texas, the unit thought it was in Aisa (apparently where it was built.) So, if it works in Asia, it should work in Brazil.
