I knocked a star off because the craftmanship was a bit subpar to other manufacturers such as five ten (glue stains out of the side of the rubber etc.) and because of sizing inconsistency between the evolv models. Eventhough a 13.5 evolv luchador SC fits me fine, the 13.5 evolv Shaman is painfully small even when there is no weight on the shoes.
My climbing has improved tenfold after getting these shoes. I no longer ever have to worry about my feet. I am not a great climber by any means, but I know these will handle anything I can throw at them.
The only downside is the heel is a bit excessively large, and the rubber is fairly thick. It won't be as sensitive as some aggressive shoes until worn in a bit.
The optimum size is a half size up from your street shoe size. If you get the same size as your street shoe, it will be too tight (and since you don't need to jam your toes into this, trying to be macho and size down will only worsen their performance).
It's my first climbing shoe after using the gym and my level is 5.10 . I would say that you can sense much more with them!!! It's an incredible feeling!

First time ever buying climbing shoes larger than my street shoe size but I don't regret it.Read more
