A magnificently reported book about one of the most sensational, wide-ranging, condemnatory stories ever about war and its enduring legacies of official horror - a meticulous companion to Marcel Ophuls' brilliant documentary "Hotel Terminus," covering almost all of the same characters. Tthere is no end to the despicableness of those characters - the Catholic Church, the South American generals the Americans, the post-war European fascists, and of course the Nazis mass murderers like Barbie, just about everyone.
