Matt Groening, creator and executive producer of Fox’s Emmy Award®-winning series The Simpsons, made television history by bringing animation back to primetime and creating an immortal nuclear family. The Simpsons is the longest running primetime animated series in television history and is currently the longest-running comedy on television, having aired more than 400 episodes. In July 2007, the highly anticipated feature film The Simpsons Movie opened in theaters with worldwide grosses of more than $525 million to date.

Originally brought to life in 1987 for The Tracey Ullman Show, The Simpsons was Groening’s amazing entry into the television animation world. Previously, he was best-known for his “Life in Hell” cartoon strip, an irreverent portrayal of love, work, school, life and relationships that currently appears in more than 250 newspapers worldwide and in a multitude of books.

Groening’s other Emmy-Award®-winning creation, Futurama, launched on Fox in March 1999 and ran for five seasons. Last year Fox released the direct-to-DVD full-length original feature Futurama: Bender’s Big Score. Three additional films will be released and the entire series with new episodes will air on Comedy Central this year.

In 1993, Groening formed Bongo Comics Group, where he serves as publisher of The Simpsons Library of Wisdom, Simpsons Episode Guides, Simpsons Comics, Bart Simpson Comics, Radioactive Man Comics, Simpsons Comics Treasure Trove, the annual Bart Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror, Futurama Comics, more than 36 comic compilations, as well as instant classics including Bart Simpsons Guide to Life, The Simpsons Handbook, and The Simpsons Uncensored Family Album among others!

In addition to the many awards bestowed on his creations (including Emmys, Annies, and the prestigious Peabody Award), Groening was personally honored with the Rueben Award for Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year, the highest honor presented by the National Cartoonist Society. To date there are more than 14 million copies of books from HarperCollins in print throughout North America, the UK, and Australia based on The Simpsons, Futurama, and Life in Hell.

This is the most important enciclopedia about the simpsons in the world. In my country there is available only the three first guides so I discovered this compilation and I bought it. There is great tones of data about the simpsons as the couch gags, the opening credits scenes and some stuff you may have missed in ALL the episodes. Also we can see the original air date on the top of the pages.If you are a hughe fan of the most famous yellow family you will love the book. As the ad say "its VERY heavy so bring a friend" be sure to carry the book securely because if it drops to your left foot D'OH!

Basically just a total blast to look through. I bought it for myself, but if someone had purchased it for me, I would love them forever. A great gift for the true fan. If you know someone who can't get through a conversation without at least one Simpsons reference, this is the ultimate gift for them. May seem a bit pricy, but at 8.8 lbs., it is worth every penny. Chock full of every song lyric, blackboard saying and "mmmmmm" moment in addition to the episode guides (seasons 1-20 only) and guest star appearance. In fact there is so much stuff here, I can't even remember it all. Buy it. Buy me Simpsons World ( I mean bonestorm) or go to hell! see? I can't even write a review without a Simpsons quote.

(Cheesy, Matt Groening had to have a hand in it's design) I being the most loyal Simpson maniac you'll ever find found myself laughing out loud all by my lonesome as I perused the unending pages of satirical insanity. Simply put, if you are a Simpsons fanatic like me this is an absolute must have. The only book even on plane with this as far as social importance and relevance might be The Bible...maybe!

    In this huge book houses fun knowledge of the Simpsons family for seasons 1-20. Now most seem to complain that they all ready have newer seasons coming out that won't be in this book but that's one of the problems with liking a hit TV show, DVD collections are that way too unless the show is out of production, only then would I buy the DVD collection because they well keep coming out with new sets. Maybe in another 20 years they will have a vol. 2 out. The book seems sturdy and have lots of color pictures In it.

    This is a huge tome full of anything you'd ever want to know about the world of the Simpsons. My only complaint being that the print is pretty small in most sections of the pages, so make sure you have a good set of glasses on hand. Otherwise, a very impressive effort. Well worth the money if you're a Simpsons fan. It's also pretty heavy so you'll be working out those biceps picking it up. You won't want to put it down.

    On the very big positive side of the book, we get a big guide of the Simpsons episodes, characters and a lot of other things here and there. We get boatloads of quotes, funny images and hilarious sidenotes. Plus, we even have descriptions on the couch gags and Itchy and Scratchy. The negative view is the book is missing seasons 21-26, so it is outdated and the book does`nt cover the Simpsons games and movie, giving us an empty feeling as we read through the book. But still, you will get a big kick out of reading this book if you are a huge Simpsons fan.
