Shep Gordon is the Four I’s: Intelligent, Irreverent, Intuitive and Irresistible.

I don’t know Shep Gordon personally but have been hearing about him for years through mutual friends and they all seem to
share widely divergent stories with the same exact post script: ‘Shep is just such a great guy.’ I say this because while I received a free advanced copy of the book asking for my feedback, I've never met him but strangely, I feel like I should.

After seeing the film, “Supermensch”a few years ago, I added him to the ’top 10 people I’d like to have coffee with list’—which includes the Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela and Vaclav Havel. And after three chapters of this book, Gordon got bumped to the ‘top 5’—and not just because Mandela and Havel are dead but because like all of the above, Gordon has lived life 'full on' with contrast, contradiction and introspection. But that’s not all that surprising for someone who has brushed up against the veil for a few moments and grasped that who we truly are is that which cannot be seen. And that probably why celebrity seems to carry a different meaning for this star cluttered philanthropic mensch.

Without embarrassment or self consciousness, Gordon invites, coaxes and goads us into a front row seat and offers us a cocktail
of excess, celebrity and insanity shaken and stirred with insight and revelation. With humor, precision and compassion--extended to even the remotest of strangers--Gordon seems to find the energy (and the inclination) to reflect back love and humanity to everyone in his path.

And for a guy who has embraced the moniker ‘Supermensch’, there is humility and grace in his recollections--which are surprising and profound.

In an age of boring, predictable and rehashed stories that plague so many autobiographies "they call me SUPERMENSCH" is a refreshing piece of art! I was graced by a free advanced copy with a request to write a review. I have never been so anxious to give my opinion. Attention Rock and Roll aficionados, culinary enthusiasts and business professionals, This book will grab you, entertain you and motivate you like no other! If you have never heard of or know little about Shep Gordon the stories will introduce you to a smart, creative, driven (and potentially nuts in a good way) individual who executed a brilliant plan of "creating history". If you are like myself and has seen the Mike Meyers Movie "Supermensch the legend of Shep Gordon" or read various books on Alice Cooper Golf Monster, Billion Dollar Babies, ME Alice to name a few. You may think you have already heard it all. I know I did. Boy was I WRONG!! The book takes well know stories and adds to them in a way it is like you are hearing about them for the first time. Hate to be cliche'd but I will, I literally could not put the book down. Going past the Rock and Roll Debauchery and entering into world of culinary artists was fascinating. Who thought a Chef could be a Rockstart... well Shep did. His philosophy of a "win win" situation in business deals was refreshing and motivating. He proved you can be rangingly successful without leaving a path of bodies along the way! Read this book and enjoy it. I am confident like myself you will be craving a sequel with more stories. To Shep, thank you, thank you for bringing us into your world!

Years ago, I was aimlessly channel surfing and happened upon a movie called "Supermench." After seeing it, I did something I'd never done before in my life -- I wrote a fan letter to the film's subject, Shep Gordon. I told him that I thoroughly enjoyed the film and went so far as to invite Shep to lunch. Crazy, I know. I doubted that was going to happen, but if there was any remote chance that I could sit down and get to know this person, I wanted to take it. Instead of having lunch together, my e-mail address found its way onto a list of friendly fans. So, when Shep wrote his autobiography, I received an offer to read an advance copy, if I'd promise to review it on Amazon. I readily agreed. I liked the movie and thought I'd enjoy the book. Yes, the "free" book. Loved it. It was the movie, but with more details. Shep and I are roughly the same age so his career dealt with many of the artists I knew and enjoyed. But put his career aside and you'll learn about an approach to life that is admirable. Off the charts outrageous at times but, at its core, a life that honors friendship. Shep talks a lot about "coupons" - the currency he employs to thank and pay back people who've been kind to him, both in his business and personal life. Well, for sharing his story, he earned a coupon from me. I can't reverse time and follow his career path, but I can and do aspire to be as good a friend to those who've supported me over the years. Buy his book - I think you'll feel the same way.

When I first heard about Shep Gordon I was a young kid in high school in Pontiac, North of Detroit. I was the biggest fan ever of the Alice Cooper Group. I never got to meet him or the group, but did follow them all around the midwest. When a dear friend of mine phoned me to say that there was this movie out about Shep, I quickly latched on to it. It was the story I always wanted to hear. I don't know how it came to be, but a year later I was offered a free copy of the new book, "They Call Me Supermensch", if I would write an honest review, I said yes!
This is a book of inspiration. It takes you through Shep's life, on his way to becoming the respected man he is today in the entertainment industry. It teaches you that one can start with a lot of bullshit and determination and become very, very successful. Although some of the things he did to become successful were not law-abiding, they were in fact, part of the rock and roll culture. You learn from this book how failures can become stepping stones of achieving greater things. It also teaches you how precious life is, to be kind to others and be thankful for the gift of living on such a beautiful planet. I will be recommending this book to all my friends. This is a must read!
