This isn't a book that you will sit down and read until you are done. It's a compilation of many little stories of Scandinavians who had moved to the Northwest. All short and fun. The editing is incredible--how the author made so many different people's mundane lives interesting is just short of miraculous.
Upon reading some of the other reviews, I was hesitant to buy it, fearing it might be a feminist diatribe against the poor oppressed, Scandinavian, immigrant women. But it was nothing of that sort. In fact the book was about as apolitical as you can get.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in this kind of obscure stuff.
