- Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2013This book is one of Robin Cook's all time classic and reading it again was just as good as the first time. They have now made two movies out of this book. One of the movies was from years back and one a little more current. The issues brought up in this book causes one to step back and think as well as realize how much of this is in today's world from the time that he first wrote this book. It is a great book to read.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2014Anyone interested in the world of medicine, Medical ethics and the money that drives the machine will love this book. I read it eons ago when it was initially published and recently thought I would return to this most interesting book. The characters are first rate. The twists and turns are such that this is a book not likely left alone for long.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2014I thought this book was just fantastic, and could hardly put it down from start to finish. Robin Cook is a very gifted science fiction writer---I wonder if this cold be happening somewhere in the world to someone.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2013At the time this book was a huge hit, unfortunately because it has been copied and imitated so many times in 30 years, it is now badly dated and overlong:
1. Too much is made of the woman vs. male profession (laughable now.)
2. You need a medical degree to follow a lot of the explanations (although you don't really need to.)
3. The book is now way too long given modern sensibilities, some imagery at the end is stunning, but you will figure it out long before the hero.
4. Uses and re-uses over worn plot devices: (1) No one believes the hero (2) Good guys are really bad guys (3) Heroine outwits bad guy (4) young doc with great future
Again, if you look at the old reviews this book was a big hit, but Robin Cook now writes more timely and more economically.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2013Hooked on his literature; even have DVD, and hardback, and highly recommend to everyone.. So interesting and downright captivating. Outstanding-detail is wonderful.
