"Rabbi Daniel Lapin's wisdom has helped untold numbers of people, including me, grow in our business, family, and spiritual lives. In Thou Shall Prosper, Rabbi Lapin has done it again. This book tells it like it is in a helpful, honest, hopeful, informative way. He offers valid, useful information based on ancient wisdom and modern experience."
-Zig Ziglar, author and motivational teacher
"Is it practical to apply spiritual lessons to the hardheaded world of business? In this potentially life-changing book, Rabbi Daniel Lapin proves that it's impractical not to use those lessons-and to bring ancient, timeless wisdom to contemporary problems. This unique approach provides an organized, supremely useful view of the world, combining common sense and unexpected, even startling insight. No matter how successful or sophisticated you may be, this remarkable work will enrich your understanding of the important, exciting process of building wealth."
-Michael Medved, nationally syndicated radio host and author of Hollywood vs. America
"Rabbi Daniel Lapin is a light unto the nations. A risk-taking rabbi of immense wisdom, his books have already influenced countless Jews and non-Jews with the eternal truths of the Hebrew Bible. Now, in this highly insightful and controversial new book, Rabbi Lapin unearths the golden nuggets of Jewish business genius. By emphasizing the unique talents of the Jewish way of life, Rabbi Lapin demonstrates how Judaism's spiritual regimen can be translated into tangible material rewards, with the bottom line being directly affected. A thoroughly engaging, enriching, and thought-provoking book."
-Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, author of Kosher Sex and Judaism for Everyone
"Rabbi Lapin is an unorthodox Orthodox rabbi. He understands the Biblical nature of economic freedom as well as he understands the Bible: uniquely well. Prosperity must have a purpose and Rabbi Lapin explores the wellsprings of the Judeo-Christian heritage to elucidate those purposes. In so doing, he also illuminates the road to greater prosperity for all. I really enjoyed this book and I heartily recommend it to people of all faiths."

From the Inside Flap
Outlining ten fundamental "commandments" relating to business and money, Thou Shall Prosper explores the economic and philosophic vision of business that has been part of the Jewish culture for centuries. By blending contemporary business stories and his own business experiences with the wisdom of the Torah, Talmudic prescriptions, and even examples from the Zohar (the Jewish book of mysticism), Rabbi Lapin explains the essence of each "commandment" and shows you how to use this knowledge to financially prosper. Commandments include: Believe in the Dignity and Morality of Business, Do Not Pursue Perfection, and Know Your Money. Rabbi Lapin helps you understand such concepts as "being in business for yourself"; avoiding the trappings of a "wage slave"; learning to become a leader; changing with the times; and much more. So that you can apply each principle to your life, Rabbi Lapin suggests engaging and accessible action steps to start you immediately on the path to prosperity.
The principles discussed in Thou Shall Prosper may stem from Jewish culture and religion, but the desire to create wealth is universal. Anyone can learn these principles, apply them, and prosper. In following these ten money-making commandments, not only will you improve your life, you will also discover how business is the best way to "do good" while doing well and how you are in business regardless of how you earn your living. Thou Shall Prosper will change your views of money as well as attitudes towards yourself, and help you identify the critical steps that make success possible.

About the author

www.RabbiDanielLapin.com
Rabbi Daniel Lapin, known world-wide as America’s Rabbi, is a noted rabbinic scholar, best-selling author and host of the Rabbi Daniel Lapin Show on The Blaze Radio. He is one of America’s most eloquent speakers and his ability to extract life principles from the Bible and transmit them in an entertaining manner has brought countless numbers of Jews and Christians closer to their respective faiths.
In 2007 Newsweek magazine included him in its list of America’s fifty most influential rabbis.
Before immigrating to the United States in 1973, Rabbi Daniel Lapin studied Torah, physics, economics and mathematics in Johannesburg, London and Jerusalem. This seemingly unlikely combination forms the bedrock of his conviction that no conflict exists between the physical and spiritual, virtue and strength, or faith and wealth. He quickly became persuaded that God continues to smile on the United States of America and he became a naturalized citizen on what he describes as the proudest day of his life.
Rabbi Daniel Lapin was the founding rabbi of Pacific Jewish Center, a now legendary Orthodox synagogue in Venice, California. He implanted the community’s mission of demonstrating the relevance of traditional Faith to modern life.
“The more things change, the more you must depend upon those things that never change” is a theme that the rabbi injects into his presentations. With his compelling application of permanent principles that address the problems that plague individuals, families and our nation, he has won the admiration of noted figures such as Dr. James Dobson, John Ashcroft, Rabbi Reuven Bulka, Pastor John Hagee, Jack Kemp (1935-2009), Dr. D.J. Kennedy (1930-2007), Rush Limbaugh, Michael Medved, Rabbi Avigdor Miller (o.b.m.), the late Secretary of the Treasury, William E. Simon, Rabbi Aryeh Sheinberg, Rabbi Pinchas Stolper and Zig Ziglar. President George W. Bush appointed him to serve two terms on a United States Commission.
Rabbi Lapin is a frequent speaker for hundreds of groups, institutions, organizations, and companies including Family Research Council, Legatus, Crystal Cathedral, Harvard Law School, Heritage Foundation, the United States Army, the Mont Pelerin Society of Economists, Prudential Insurance Company, the 1996 Republican National Convention, Voices United for Israel, Yeshiva University, and Young President’s Organization. Rabbi Lapin was the keynote speaker at the Congressional Bi-Partisan opening of the 106th Congress in Washington, DC. He speaks regularly at universities, businesses and synagogues and churches throughout the country. He regularly appears on both national and local radio and television shows.
Rabbi Lapin is a noted writer. His articles have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, National Review, Commentary, The Jewish Press, The American Enterprise, The Washington Times, Crisis, and other publications. His first book, America’s Real War was a national best seller and his second book Buried Treasure; the Secrets for Living from the Lord’s Language, was published in 2001. His third book Thou Shall Prosper: The Ten Commandments for Making Money published by John Wiley in 2002, continues selling well in America and has also been translated into Chinese and Korean. His latest project is the production of audio CD’s that present thousands of years of Jewish wisdom emanating from the Bible, in ways that impact and improve modern day life.

Rabbi Lapin breaks down the Jewish thoughts and attitudes toward being of service to your fellow humans and reaping the wealth that servitude brings to you into what he calls the "Ten Commandments" on his principles for building wealth.
What some describe as him rambling and straying from the topic, I saw as interesting insights in to Jewish ways and thoughts as this is the first (anything) I've ever read outlining those perspectives. To describe what he calls the "Ten Commandments" are the chapters in the book:
1. Believe in the Dignity and Morality of Business
2. Extend the Network of Your Connectedness to Many People
3. Get to Know Yourself
4. Do Not Pursue Perfection
5. Lead Consistently and Constantly
6. Constantly Change the Changeable, While Steadfastly Clinging to the Unchangeable
7. Learn to Fortell the Future
8. Know Your Money
9. Act Rich: Give Away 10% of your After-Tax Income
10. Never Retire
The information provided is both insightful as well as applicable to people of all faiths not just Jewish people. I find his ideals to be time honored and often forgotten in todays' fast-paced high-pressure society. None the less, he reminds us all of the benefits of putting morals first, building networks with other people, digging into your own inner workings, not striving for excessive perfection, leading, anticipating market trends, maintaining an attitude of servitude to others, managing money, giving (which enriches you) and never calling it quits just because you've reached a certain age.
I can't think of a single source of information that's done more to affect my attitude towards how I treat my own customers and team members that this book.
I declare it to be ESSENTIAL reading and go so far as to say it one of my Favorites of Favorites!
Rabbi Lapin goes further explaining how his Jewish culture encourages both activities and ways of thinking that tend to lead to prosperity. He makes it accessible to 'outsiders' knowing that your success and the success of others will benefit the community. As part of the same world, the came country etc. your/their success will ultimately benefit him well beyond mere book sales.
I read it, enjoyed it, and recommend it to others. I may read it again, or at least review some sections later. If you are thinking about it then YES. Buy the book.
One of the interesting aspects of the book is that the author is a rabbi, so he writes within the framework of the Torah and Jewish oral history. Lapin says, "(i)f there is one Jewish attribute more directly responsible for Jewish success in business than any other, it is this one, Jewish tradition views a person's quest for profit and wealth to be inherently moral." As a rabbi Lapin declined to accept a salary and instead supported his family by working for places like Merrill Lynch and finally opening a real estate finance company. He has the education and life-long study of a rabbi as well as the real-world experience of an entrepreneur. He brings them both to the table.
I found this book enthralling from beginning to end and it sits squarely in my "Read Again" stack.

1. Believe in the Dignity and Morality of Business
2. Extend the Network of Your Connectedness to Many People
3. Get to Know Yourself
4. Do Not Pursue Perfection
5. Lead Consistently and Constantly
6. Constantly Change the Changeable, While Steadfastly Clinging to the Unchangable
7. Learn to Foretell the Future
8. Know Your Money
9. Act Rich: Give Away 10 Percent of Your After-Tax-Income
10. Never Retire
Ich kann das Buch sehr empfehlen, mich hat es sehr inspiriert. Es ist unvergleichlich viel besser als diese ganzen esoterischen Bücher zum gleichen Thema, wie "The Secret" und dieser ganze Quatsch.
