Better than my Professor

I have a terrible professor. I found this book more helpful in explaining the basics than he is. I do not by any means think this book is a replacement, but it helped for sure. We are using only my professor's own material, it is all online and mostly the equations and very little explanation. This helped and I think it would be very nice to have to complement a traditional text book. As a whole the second language books are great!

If you are taking physics with calculus for the first time in a university, this book will not help you! It is a basic view of physics with no explanation of the concepts. It explains the VERY basics of physics. It does not help with anything past circular motion. This is not the book if you are struggling. If you are struggling, however a tutor is the most helpful and finding a book with multiple practice problems and solutions that are thoroughly explained.

I very much enjoy this series. It presents concepts in a simple manner that a child can understand. The only problem I have with this particular book is that it does not cover a large chunk of concepts most college physics students will have to learn. For the first semester it is excellent, but it does not cover diffraction and interference along with several concepts in electromagnetism beginning with Ampere's Law. A good first semester book, but I would love another version containing the second semester topics.
Was expecting something similar to the series Organic Chemistry books, which are lifesavers, but this only comes so close. Honestly, this would be better for high school students.

I bought this book just before taking a university physics course. I must say that the examples reiterate the material very well, and emphasize the important points from example to example. Although the book is limited to specific topics (i.e. it does not cover thermodynamics among other things), I felt it was thoroughly organized and concise. It helped immensely.

I have looked for a book on physics with calculus and found a great shortage of them. There are alot of College Physics supplmental books but very few University Physics ones. Having used the series for Organic Chemistry I would reccoment the series.
