- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2014Very articulately written. Fills me in on all the things that were happening in a way that makes sense. Explains the details that went into decision making. I was pre-occupied with career building at the time, and did not follow events as closely as I might have.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2015A lot of pages to read, but well worth finding out what went through George Shultz's mind and heart as President Reagan's Secretary of State. Far different from being a Henry Kissinger, but so were the events. Well worth reading and having as a history book as well as an autobiography book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2019good read
- Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2014Just starting it. It will be a pleasure to read about the experiences of a true diplomat (as opposed to the last two occupants of this position whose only qualifications are those of a lousy politician).
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2012I found this book to be very informative. It was particularly enlightening on the subject of Reagan's philosophy re: nuclear disarmament. Very surprised and pleased to read that he considered the reduction of nuclear weapons the single most important objective of his or any other presidency.
On an unrelated note, I tried to send a gift copy of this book to a friend via Amazon. While I was billed for the book my friend never received his copy. Multiple attempts to get help from Amazon were of no avail.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2015Got it for historical purposes, but suggest the auditory version or better yet the pbs movie. Saw it channel flipping. We sure are a different world in a lot of ways since then, yet slot of ways the same-- govt Waaay too big. Threats from ussr, no respect around the world. No fear w Iran hostages. Etc
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2018Well written, but a little too detailed for the casual read.
